Stupid Rules and Burnt Water Cracker Pizza 1/24/2008

My husband and I went after work. We ordered a glass of wine, a beer, salad and a large calzone. I also ordered 2 waters. When the waters came I asked the waiter for some lemon. He said I could not have a piece of lemon as they are not allowed to serve lemon with tap water. I asked another waiter pointing out my glass of wine hoping this would qualify me for a measly slice of lemon and he said no its the rules, only paid for beverages needing lemon can get lemon. This really upset me because of how stupid the whole thing was. Salad was good, but how hard is cut up romaine?? anyway, our calzone came out it was small for one person not the large one we ordered and most of it was burnt black! Our check came and we put our debit card out. A female waiter with a bad attitude informed us they only take cash which would have been fine if she did not say it like we were wasting her time and should have known already! Really unbelievable that anyone could run a business on black burnt tasteless crust and bad attitudes! We do not intend to go back. How greedy do the owners have to be that they will not serve a slice of lemon to any customer, I mean did they have a meeting about this or something! My husband and I love going out to eat, we enjoy good food and a great experience, we do like the fresh ingredients and lighter style pizza they serve when it is not burnt to a crisp! Its a shame, as they lost our business although they did not seem to value it anyway! more

Our Favorite Pizza & Salad 4/14/2007

Go to Nick's Pizza if you want friendly no frills service, amazingly fresh salads and delicious brick oven pizza. We go here once a week and we really enjoy it every time. There's no slices, but really, you couldn't just eat 1 slice..they use the best fresh ingredients and cheeses...their brick oven cooks the dough perfectly...GO HERE! Pros: Consistency in friendly service and great tasting food more

Service with attitude... 3/7/2007

Recently had dinner there with a friend. Heard good things about Nick's but was really disappointed, especially with the service. The first waiter was sarcastic when we asked questions about the menu, and the 2nd waitress (an older woman) who basically just asked us if we wanted dessert and brought us the check, had the nerve to return the bill to us and telll us we made a mistake on the tip! Since when is 20% tip mandatory!? They never even came back to the table after we got our food and this is a pizzeria!! It's not table cloth service! if they want to make sure they get the full 20% tip, they should accept CREDIT CARDS! I was not going to break a $20 to leave her an extra $2 which my friend ended up giving her and she was content...I just couldn't fathom the nerve, and to be honest, I don't see what the hype is about. The pizza is good, not outstanding, the crust was soggy and when you picked up the pieces the cheese slid right off, and to top it off the service is really rude. I will stick to patronizing the many other brick oven & pizza places in the neighborhood that make you feel welcome, like Dee's on Metropolitan... Pros: good salads Cons: Rude service, NO Debit/credit cards, pizza is average more

Best pizza in NY 2/2/2007

Never disappointed by Nick's! Great pizza, great service. Salads are also awesome! Favorite pizza, much better than Grimaldi's and Patsy's. Pros: Great food Cons: Cash only more

Don't forget the cannoli! 1/5/2007

Hands down best pizza in NYC. \r Try the cannoli's!! I am not sure if they are made fresh 'in-house' or if they are brought in, but either way they are DELISH! Big enough to share and rolled in pistachios. The calzones are also really tasty along with the salads. Yep, that's pretty much everything on the menu....I love it, best place to eat in Forest Hills. Pros: Pizza, pizza, pizza! Cons: Sometimes you have to wait, but whaddya gonna do about it? more

best pizza 12/27/2006

seriously great pizza! i was a fan of lombardi's forever, but i feel like they have deteriorated significantly over time. my new favorite is nick's!!.. the pizza has a great crust, and it's never soggy and gross. also they have the best toppings, always really fresh tasting and not overdone at all. the staff is friendly and on point. and yeah, it's in Forest Hills, not Flushing. Pros: great pizza, fresh toppings, good salads Cons: remember it's cash only more

Great Place 8/19/2006

First off - Nick's Pizza is not in Flushing it's in Forest Hills! Pizza is light and airy but very filling and yes the sauce is awesome. They also have all kinds of toppings to pick from and the salads are awesome, too. My favorite is the house salad! We usually order a pizza and salads all around and everyone is very satisfied. Service is good, too. Nick's can be kind of pricy and they do not take credit cards. Pros: Good Food and Service Cons: No Credit Cards more

a real taste of italy 1/26/2006

nick's crust is different. secondly, the crust is almost paper thin and the crust bottom is burnt looking, but it goes well with the sauce and the cheese. The sauce of nick's pizza is amazing. Having been to many authentic italian pizzerias (naples 45, lombardis, patsys etc), I can say that nick's pizza is probably the best pizza in nyc. The sauce beats everybody elses. It's tangy intense tomato flavor and very acidic. Take a nexium pill before. This is authentic italian style. It doesn't have very much cheese and they use fresh mozzarella that looks different from the regular pizzeria cheese. The pizza is mostly sauce, with a few slices of mozzarella melted on and some fresh basil leaves scattered on top. A thing of beauty. But be ready to pay extra to get some grated cheese and they don't have any garlic powder. Pros: sauce, cheese, crust Cons: no slices, buy whole pizza only, no credit cards more

Delicious 1/25/2006

This is GREAT pizza for fans of brick oven pizza. The crust has that just right crispiness, and the toppings are fresh. The only drawback is it can get rather pricey, especially if you add on the toppings. Pros: Great pizza Cons: Pricey more

I love Nick's pizza loaded with veggies and pepperoni. The cheese on their pies is the best! You have to eat in because the pizza is best fresh out of the oven. Pros: beer/wine Cons: parking more

WASTE OF A TRIP 12/8/2004

I MADE THE TRIP TO NICKS AND WAS VERY UPSET. THE PIZZA WAS BURNT AND THERE WAS NO CHEESE. THE WAITRESS BROUGHT THE WRONG PIZZA, THE WRONG SALAD, AND FORGOT THE DRINKS. HOWEVER SHE DID NOT FORGET TO CHARGE ME EXTRA FOR PARM CHEESE. more

Better than the rest! 5/26/2004

After trying Many pizza restaurants in NYC we've come to the conclusion that Nicks is the absolute best. You need to trek to Forest Hills but it's worth it. Lombardi's comes close but Nicks is just a notch above. Also Lombardis can be a bit inconsistant. As far as John's, Patsy's, Grimaldi's...What are people thinking? John's on Bleeker is probably one of the worst pizza experiences I've had. Grimaldi's is such a tourest trap and the pies are not even as good as Lombardi's. Nick's is only pies. No slices. But for slices we have Di Fara's so it's all good. Pros: Best crust, Inexpensive, Red/White pie Cons: , Parking is tough more

Nick's Pizza is worth the subway ride! Forest Hills is a shopping and strolling mecca. Try a little shopping and then Nick's pizza and a stroll through the quaint treelined streets of Forest Hills Gardens right around the corner... more

Tasty! 3/15/2003

Great salads! they have an unbelievable calzone that is also great! pizza was thin and tasty although a bit too ""limp"" for my taste. more

Best Pizza in Forest Hills 2/8/2003

This is the best pizza in Forest Hills. It is nice enough to enjoy as a nice meal. The brick oven pizza is perfectly cooked with just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Toppings are well prepared and in the correct quantity. The only downside can be the wait. Take out is available, but not delivery. No reservations either. more

delicious 11/27/2002

fresh and tasty. the crust is thin and the sauce is tomatoey!! Cons: parking more

Fantastic 11/6/2002

Nick's Pizzeria is a very good envioremental restaurant with a decent food. more

Sublime! 10/31/2002

Nick's Pizza is simply fabulous. While I have eaten John's Pizza several times over the past few years (the new Broadway location is beautiful but the pizza isn't as good as the Bleecker St location so why bother), Nick's remains consistent. It never disappoints. Their salads are delicious too! Pros: Quick Takeout Cons: Street Parking more

Number 1 10/18/2002

I can now walk to the Grimaldi's from home but lived in Forest Hills for 5 years. Nick's is jusy better. Pros: Lightening service Cons: small space more
