One of the few great Forest Hills restaurants 6/29/2011

I do love Nick's pizza and frequent at least twice a month but that's partially due to the limited selection of really good restaurants in the area...prices are a little steep and have increased recently but it won't affect my patronage. The staff crack me up though; I have been a customer for years but they never show any acknowledgement that you have been there before. more

Very good pizza, but overpriced 12/18/2010

The pizza is very good, but it's not the best, Adrienne's Pizza Bar in downtown (Stone Street) is waay better. The shocker is that Nick's is more expensive than Adrienne's... But given that Nick's is closer to my home, I will still go from time to time and enjoy a very good pizza. If the two places were on the same street, I would not enter Nick's though. more

overpriced 7/10/2010

I heard numerous people complain about this place. I tried it anyway and I was sorry. The portions were small for the price. The staff was very rude too. They were very chincy on the toppings and they did not taste fresh either Pros: location Cons: not fresh ingredients more

By far the Best Pizza and Calzone ever!!!!! 3/24/2010

Where do I begin? If you enjoy authentic thin crust pizza with the freshest tomato sauce and cheese, then this is definitely the place for you! The calzone is dangerously good. I also love that I can order my favorite wine by the glass or bottle and the service is super quick. We came in starving right before our movie and left in time to make the previews!! Pros: Food, open late Cons: Addicting!! more

Favorite Pizza in NYC 10/25/2009

Definitely my favorite pizza in NYC. If you like a good sauce, this is it. I always get sausage and extra sauce. The mozzarella, basil and other ingredients are always fresh. If you prefer cheese pizzas, this may not be for you. Pros: Awesome Sauce more

still doesn't surprise me 10/17/2009

I've lived in Forest Hills for years and have been to Nick's three times, all years apart. The first time was with a group of about 8 when the place had first opened. It was appalling how rude the waiters were and how mediocre the food was. About ten years later, my father and I decided to try Nick's again because of all the amazing write ups they had been getting over the years. I dont know how Nick's managed to make a burnt, soggy pizza, but they did. I swore off the place until a few days ago when a few buddies from out of town asked me about the place because of all the great things they'd heard. I didn't mention my past experiences at Nick's and we all went down. Absolutely nothing has changed. Pros: pizza is JUST ok Cons: rude waitstaff, overhyped pizza more

Never again 10/9/2009

I'll start on a positive note: the menu is appealing, and the pizza is pretty good. \r \r Ok, now for the review. I have been here four times. Each time, I am absolutely astounded by the unbelievably horrific service. To the point where you wonder if there is some hidden camera and you are part of some reality or ""Punk'd"" show. The staff here is horrible. I'd like to single at least one server out who is an anomaly but I can't. \r \r Specifics? No attention, rudeness in answering questions about the menu, not informing you of any unpublished quirky things about the menu, they rush you along and generally make you feel unwelcome. \r \r I'm glad to see it's not just me. As I see from the reviews, service is not a selling point for Nick's. And each time I have been there, other patrons and my party have commented on one example of poor service. \r \r In this economy particularly, I'm dumbfounded by service establishments who don't step up and play their A-game. \r \r While the food is decent, it is definitely not the best in NY or Queens. You can go elsewhere, pay the same or less and not leave feeling unwelcome. \r \r I typically don't wish any business ill, or want to see people out of work but if Nick's does go under some day I will not be the slightest bit surprised. I will never go back. Pros: Menu Cons: Service (or lack thereof), Rudeness, over-priced more

should be called nickel and dime 8/23/2009

They do not treat their customers well. This is the only Italian pizzaria/restaurant I have been to that doesn't provide condiments free of charge. You have to pay for parmesan cheese. and a slice of lemon for your water. I bet they will start charging for the salt and pepper on the table soon. AND they do not accept credit cards. Pros: nothing Cons: overpriced more

Charged for a sprinkle of Parmesan ??? 7/29/2009

Pizza was Ok. Dee's on Metropolitan is better, but the kicker was I was, when I got the check I noticed I was charged a $1.50 for some Paremsan I had asked. I think I sprinkled a about 1/2 a teaspoon total on my pizza. Rather than make a scene I just took it out of the tip. Call me cheap! more

AMAZING PLACE TO SIT AND HAVE PIZZA 5/20/2009

THE STAFF ARE PLEASENT AND THE PZZA THEY SERVE WOWW MAN, I JUST LOVE THAT PLACE. IT CAN GET PRETTY CONGESTED BUT THAT 'S BECAUSE THE PIZZA IS TASEFUL. ACTUALLY IM THINKING OF GOING AFTER WORK TO GRAB A PIE LOL. Pros: THE PIZZA IS TO DIE FOR! Cons: NO CON'S more

Nice and Yum 5/9/2009

We recently moved to Forest Hills and thought it would be nice to grab a late dinner in the area (tonight). So we shook our UrbanSpoon app and it brought us to Nick's Pizza. Service was great...neighborhood friendly and very attentive. Pizza was yummy...baked fresh and not too heavy for late night dinner. And last but not least....try the cannoli - a perfect dessert to share and end the night. Pros: great neighborhood cheap eats more

Rude 4/11/2009

I went here with a friend around 8pm. While we still eating the staff started cleaning up the restaurant to close. They sprayed cleaner/bleach right near out table and were cleaning the floors. They could have come over to our table and said, ""we are closing soon,"" or waited until we left to clean with chemicals. Plus, they would not give us a lemon for out water. They only give lemons to customers who buy the bottled water. Pros: pizza is ok Cons: rude more

Horrible Service - Manager screams at customers!!! 3/8/2009

Nick's Pizza has THE WORST SERVICE in this city. Watch out for the moody manager!!!\r After ordering my food I asked to be re-seated at one of the booths because my girlfriend and I had walked in with backpacks. The manager snapped at me saying that they don?t do that there. I tried explaining to him that we were really uncomfortable in our current seats and that there were two couples leaving the booths next to our table. He basically screamed at me saying that he needed the booths for other customers ? the place was basically empty and there wasn?t a single person waiting to be seated? The manager was probably having a bad day and decided to scream at us to vent out some of his frustration. I will NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN. Cons: Moody manager that screams at customers, they make you feel like they are doing you a favor by ""allowing"" you to eat there more

Wrong Attitude 3/5/2009

The pizza here is excellent, as are the dessert and selection of beer. The Service needs serious improvement, this is one of those places where they make you feel like they are doing you a favor by allowing you to eat in their restuarant. Also dont expect to get a things after closing, even if your getting something quick to go and there restaurant is half full, the economy isnt at its best and this place is turning business away at 9:50 on a thursday. Better off going to Dee's Pizza on Metropolitan, at least they appreciate your patronage there Pros: Great eats! Cons: Terrible attitude from servers more

One of the best pizza places in Queens 11/26/2008

It's not typical NY style pizza but sometimes it's good to try something a little different. Ingredients are top notch and the house salad is the best salad I've ever had. I actually go more for the salad than the pizza but the 2 compliment each other nicely and you feel like you are having a full meal this way. Cash only and no slices which is fine with me. Two people who are hungry can split a large pizza. It's very light. Pros: House Salad is a must have. Cons: Small. more

Family Friendly and maybe the best Pizza in Queens 11/7/2008

The oven baked pizza from Nick's never disappoints. The ingredients taste fresh and scrumptious. The choice of alcohol is modest but quirky and pleasant. The staff is great. You will ask yourself ""Am I in NY?"" because everyone is so friendly. There is limited seating though. If you want to guarantee a quick meal, you have to go during off-peak hours. Definitely worth a try. Pros: Awesome Pizza. Friendly Staff. Family Friendly. Cons: Street Parking. Crowded and often a line during peak times. more

Best brick oven pizza in queens 10/15/2008

Great selection of beers, family friendly, and yummy pizza. Gets a little crowded on the weekends but still doesn't stop be from showing up. Pros: nice interior decor more

good pizza.... just dont ask for a lime ! ! 9/28/2008

Their gourmet pizzas are not easily found in queens... also hard to find is a place that is as stingy with their limes. Despite the fact we ordered wine, salads, and large pizza the owner told the waiter not to give me a lime wedge with my water unless i ordered bottled. Are u freakin kidding me ! ! ! ! Then i unsuccessfully tried to convince her it was for my salad. Although she admittedly had limes in the kitchen, she defended her ""policy"" of only serving limes with the order of a bottled water. I dont know whats her damn problem with giving out lime wedges but trust me bring ur own limes if u ever dine there ! ! ! \r \r on my behalf i urge anyone who goes there to ask for a lime wedge until the owner realizes how stupid she is.\r Pros: fresh ingredients Cons: stingy with their Limes ! ! ! more

Busy for a Reason 6/16/2008

I heard so much about this place. I just had to try it out. I never really noticed the restaurant before. I had to look up the address ahead of time. The sign should probably be changed. Despite the fact that the restaurant hasn't been around for ages, there is an old, classic diner feel. There are pictures of Forest Hills from way back when. The booths are also green, which matches the trees outside. The place was fairly packed for a Sunday evening...perhaps this is why the service was so strange. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because I've never had such distant service at a pizza place before. I'm accustomed to friendly Italians, not sarcastic assgrabbers who refuse to give you any kind of eye contact. \r \r The pizza itself was great. It wasn't the best I've had in my entire life, but probably the best I'll have in Queens. It's not traditional New York style, in my opinion. The crust is unique, and agreeing with another reviewer, the crust is very naan-like. It is probably best not to get a delivery or take out because the top of the pizza gets cold and soggy after a short while. The crust gets hard and flaky. It is best to dine in and enjoy the unique flavor. The sauce was excellent. The toppings were all very fresh. \r \r Keep in mind that you have to order the entire pie. You also have to pay in cash. \r \r I didn't feel particularly rushed, but I do know that the staff was way more concerned about the customers coming in than the customers who were actually dining. Perhaps I'll return on a weekday. Pros: Taste of the pizza, Location, Price Cons: Service more
