Alternative Beauty Sans Attitude 7/22/2005

I've found myself in a number of New York piercing and tattoo parlors over the years, both for myself and for friends, and New York Adorned is the only one where the counter staff didn't pull more-alternative-than-you attitude until they got you behind the curtain. It was a while ago, and of course it's going to change a little with the staff, but I was really struck by how open and respectful everyone there was, even before it was clear that I was going to go through with the work. The facilities are clean, equipment is sterile and the artists and piercers I came into contact with seemed very dedicated to their work. I've only had piercings done there, but if you're thinking of tattoos you can take a look at the artists' work on their website ( to see if anyone works in the style you're looking for. They also carry a good selection of piercing jewelry, both standard and from all over the world. more
