I contracted New Beginnings Landscaping to install sod in my front yard. I orignally contacted Mr. Condon in March of 2011 and advised him that I would like him to install the sod in my yard. I was told a contract would be sent to me for signature and deposit. I did get the contract until May 2011. Mr. Condon never contacted me concerning the delay but after receiving an email from me regarding the status of the contract, I was told they had computer problems. Upon receipt, I sent them my signed contract with a 50% deposit in early may 2011 and although my contract stated that the work would begin on May 23rd, I contacted Mr. Condon to see when work would begin as it was raining that week. Mr. Condon never contacted me unless I contacted him first. When he did I was told it would be a while until he got to my yard because he was behind on other jobs that were scheduled before mine and the weather was hampering him. I was given three different dates when the work would start and all three times no one showed up and to make matters worse, no one contacted me to provide and explanation as to why work was not started when I was told it would, I had to contact them to find out what happened and got one excuse after another. Keep in mind that at this point they had $800 of my money for several weeks. July 8th was the last straw. I was told my yard would be prepped and sod would be orderd for the 9th. Needless to say, Mr. Condon was a no show again and never even bothered to call me. I emailed asking him why he did not show and was told there was a threat of rain and he could not put topsoil down in the rain. There was no rain and even if there was, my yard could have been cleared at the very least. I cancelled the contract that day as it had been more than a reasonable amount of time for the work to have been completed. I advised Mr. Condon that I wanted my full deposit back or I would take him to court and report him to the BBB. His reply was that if I continued...they would make a fuss about me cancelling after the initial three day period after contract was signed and suggested that I would not get my full deposit back. Extremely unprofessional and I would advise anyone doing business with New Beginnings to pay a little more money andget the job done right. As the saying goes...""you get what you pay for"". Those words certainly rang true in this case!
