NW Bird Rescue

On Sunday my husband and I brought home a very handsome macaw by the name of Wally. We had just lost our Chico who was with us for many years. We wanted to open our home to another parrot. With luck I found Chris on the website PARROTS FOR PATRIOTS . I called and got Chris crying and telling him about our loss. And 3 weeks later Wally came in our life. Chris is the Dr. DOODLE of parrots . He found us the perfect parrot. His love for them goes beyond anything I have ever seen. He will educate you and get you set up with the diet they need and the toys they like. So when you get them home you don't have to worry about that kind of stuff you can start getting to know your new friend. Chris is amazing. One of the most important things is knowing that Wally will be taken care of when our time comes he will have a home at the rescue . Today is our second day with Wally and he came out of his cage he stepped up for us and got his head scratched. Thank you Chris so much and also thank you Joe. more

I adopted an African Grey from NW Bird Rescue this last Saturday. I can't express enough how knowledgeable Chris is and he is definitely there for the birds. His main concern is how the birds will be taken care of both in housing and feeding. We spent over 3 hours with him, while he shared his love and knowledge of birds. It was very refreshing to find someone that cares as much as he does. He is a fantastic person and I will stay in contact with him to continue to learn and help with this organization. more

I cannot sing enough praise for Chris and the absolute fantastic work he does for theses beautiful, funny, silly birds. I fell in love with my Charlie overnight. He is a yellow naped amazon parrot. The first night I really didn’t expect much from Charlie...new home surroundings, new momma. Let me tell you, this is a match made in heaven. The next day Charlie was singing, talking, counting, laughing. I owe all this to Chris. He knows what he is doing. He is the original bird talker and loves these birds so much and does so much to help patriots. I promise, you will not be dissatisfied at all. I am so happy we discovered NW Parrot rescue to adopt our newest family member Magoo! It is a wonderful organization that helps find good homes for abandoned or neglected birds while helping veterans as well. Chris spent a lot of time helping us pick out the perfect bird. With the cost of the bird you receive a cage, bird toys, food, the birds bio and preferences, and lifetime advice. You get all these benefits for less than the cost of a bird alone if you went to a pet store or breeder. Such a good value while knowing you are helping the bird and our veterans. more

Chris is amazing and so is my Umbrella Cockatoo Gracie. I have been really depressed and lonely. He matched Gracie and I up and she is fantastic. He explained everything, provided me with great information. I have a great companion. He is still so supportive too. more

I have used this service twice. I knew my first bird was very old but so am I and our time together was so enriching for us both. And now I have a new young bird who is a great match and has so much love and fun to give. It is not easy to love a Veteran with PTSD but my bird does and makes me laugh too. So much joy to share !! Chris is an amazing person who dedicates his life to helping birds. I recently adopted one of his rescues. Chris is here for me and my new bird making sure we acclimate well. He is thorough with his information. The care package he puts together was phenomenal. I can't rave enough about this rescue. It really warms my heart to know that there are places like this helping birds find forever homes. Thanks Chris so much for all your effort and commitment. I adore my african grey rescue and look forward to forming a bond with her as the weeks and months go by. more

I knew the moment I saw Goldie he was ours… I contacted NW bird rescue on Saturday morning after I filled out my application, and by Sunday night Goldie was in our home… This was the most natural flawless and professional adoption we’ve ever done, Chris was amazing and obviously loves the birds! It takes a special person to do what Chris does, I feel like we have Chris in our corner now for life to help us with our parents. I can’t thank this facility enough for what they do for not only the birds, but the veterans as well! more

had lost my best friend angel and was devastated, contacted my driggins who found me the most perfect bird, she has turned out to be the love of my life in a very short time. I applaud him for the way he finds good homes for birds, and how he spent time with me letting me know everything about my new bird and how to take the best of care for it, been a parrot owner for over 20 years and he even taught me something. more

Facing a devastating situation, I turned to Chris for help. He was very thorough about details for each of the birds, so their transition would be stress free for each individual bird. My 45 year old husband had a stroke a year and half ago and we were looking for a therapy bird. We called NWBR and talked with Chris and he matched us up with Sammy a sweet conure. Chris passion and devotion to these birds is truly inspiring. He brought Sammy over and met my husband and two boys which gave left a deep impression. The boys are still talking about the "birdman". Thank you Cris and NWBR for helping these birds and serving our community. more

Chris traveled to my house during rush hour and pouring rain to introduce and home Sunshine the lutino cockatiel. He brought her in a travel cage and brought her large cage both of which I could keep. He also brought a starter kit for feeding and maintaining her health. Because of strange circumstances however, I wasn't able to keep her. And though it wasn't the ideal homing situation for Chris, myself, or Sunshine, Chris came and picked her up between very busy schedules and made taking care of Sunshine his priority. I was sorry to see her go but I know she will soon find her forever home. Chris was able to refund almost half of my adoption fee and he plans to reimburse another portion when the resources are available. I just hope Sunshine is happy with her future family. more
