The olive oil stuff they serve with the bread is sooo tasty. I ordered the lamb chop special. It was also delicious. The presentation of the food is impressive.

Pretty darn good !! 3/1/2009

My wife and I live right around the corner form Mythos and drive by it everyday. This place has been the longest establishment in that location. Our first time was tonite and I must say very good ! Mike our server was very attentive. The food was very good and the prices were very reasonable. We try to find ""non-chain"" restuarants as our favs and this one is officially on the list as of tonite !! Check it out. Pros: Good food, prices and service more

Best family owned restaurant we've tried in Triangle 4/8/2008

Absolutely delicious! We have dined with them several times, had terrific specials every time, good service, and never had to wait to get seated. This is my favorite restaurant in Cary. I?m delighted to try the different specials. We took a friend there who dines out in four and five star restaurants weekly (part of his job ? fortunately for him). He had a veal dish that he dubbed the best veal he has ever tasted. I look forward to many more delicious meals with them. Pros: Delicious!!! more

Just Got Back And Had To Review... 2/14/2008

...because of the shocking recent poor reviews my fiancee and I saw. It is a bit pricey, though we each got a special. There are several items around $20 or so, and if you don't get alcohol and/or appetizer, it'd be a moderately priced dinner. We started with the Meze Trio appetizer, which had hummus, pureed eggplant (not babaghanouj, but basically it was), and a feta/red pepper puree served with pitas. All were wonderful, especially putting all 3 together on a pita. My fiancee ordered the New York Strip special, which she ordered medium, which was pepper crusted and served with shrimp on top and golden mashed potatoes. She said the steak was cooked exactly the way she liked it and she enjoyed it very much. I had a taste also and the pepper crust was very strong and the steak was very moist and tender. I ordered the veal chop special, topped with carmelized onions and served with a sweet potato mash. I am no food connosieur by any means and I do at times roll my eyes when restaurants tout how wonderful their food pairings are, but this I actually could taste and attest to how the onions heightened the flavor of the veal and, since they were carmelized, went perfectly with the sweet potatoes (which is my favorite veggie anyway). We did not get dessert, though they looked spectacular. I will admit that the waiter did forget our bread until after we had our entrees, and you do only get 2 small pieces, but we had an appetizer as it is, so we didn't miss the bread, and I am a huge bread fan and have been known to spoil my dinner appetite on pre-entree bread. The bill, including 2 glasses of wine, was $95. Again, these specials basically were just as much or more than the most expensive regular entree, so isn't necessarily indicative of a normal dinner there. But it was far worth it because it was one of the best dinners I, and my fiancee admits to as well, have ever had. We would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone and everyone. Pros: Food, Attentive and Thorough Waiter Cons: A bit pricey, ambience is average - not really romantic (food compensates) more

Inconsistent Customer Service 1/8/2008

My husband and I thought we'd try Mythos this past Saturday night. It was about 7:00 PM and we were seated right away, as were 3 other couples that came in after us. The other couples were welcomed, got water and even drink orders filled. We had not even been approached. The hostess cleaned off the table next to us. We asked when we would be waited on, and she went to find someone. A few minutes later she returned saying our server was sorry and that she'd be right with us. Never once did the hostess step in and at least pour some water... very odd way to provide good service. Meanwhile, 2 of the 3 couples that came in after us had their dinner orders taken. After 25 minutes still without service, my husband and I walked out. AND the hostess had the nerve to call ""have a nice evening"" after us.\r Pros: Menu looked appealing Cons: Lack of consistent customer care more

avoid mythos 11/16/2007

Not worth $70 for dinner for 2. Waiter did not know menu. Waiter brought the wrong salad. Waiter put in an order for wrong special and did not apologize for it and neither did the chef. Seafood dish had tiny clams and only a few.Decor was awful. They were cheap with the bread. Lemon Risotto on wife's plate was over cooked and tasted bitter like they just used the rind. When they brought the food asked for a fork. Rather than bringing it right away he went and took an order from a large party. We did feel our dinner experience was not worth it. WE both got sick stomachs after eating there. We contacted the resteraunt via email and they did not even respond with an apology. Steer clear Pros: Hmmm NONE Cons: Everything. Steer clear more

I'm so conflicted. Great food. Horrible decor. 11/6/2007

Mythos is a perfect lunch restaurant. Let me explain. A dinner restaurant has it all: great decor, food, service. A lunch restaurant has great food, decent price, but is usually lacking something. You can tell when you walk in that Mythos is a chef owned establishment. The food is great and priced appropriately for the quality. I do understand the complaints about price though as the dining area is decorated like your average $8/plate hole in the wall (said lovingly) Italian place. I walked inside for dinner to find bad paint, bad murals, and horribly designed menus with Frank Sinatra playing (I do love Frank, but not the music that matched what they were going for). The first time I ate there was for lunch outdoors and it was lovely so it compelled me to go back and eat dinner inside. However, once inside, I was not really excited about eating there anymore for the reasons noted above. The dishes are layered quite nicely and the caponata app is divine as is their EVOO. The entree I ordered (the filet mignon special) had the most delicious vegetables, but I could not enjoy them as much as I should have as they were cold. I understand a filet takes a bit to cook, but that is no excuse. Luckily the taste was so good that the temp was only an annoyance. Don't miss their Pom Martini. Fabulous! The staff was all very kind and helpful. It is not the kind of place you want to fill up on free bread (shame on people who are annoyed by the 1 piece of bread). The food is the reason you should go to an establishment, not the freebies.\r \r Basically, the food is an excellent quality, but I don't think I'll be returning after 3pm. If I am going to pay $80 for a dinner for 2, I expect decor on par with prices and food quality. So Mythos is on my warm weather lunch list since I can then sit outside and enjoy good food and nice weather, but the food isn't good enough to convince me to subject myself to the dining room. Pros: Food is wonderful, staff polite and helpful, martini's fabulous Cons: Absolutely horrible decor distracts from how good the food and drinks are more

No customer service 9/14/2007

We have been going to mythos since it opened and recommended it to several friends.\r However we will not be going back again.\r \r We were given our check and we paid with a card. When we got the check back to sign I noticed we were greatly overcharged. The waiter gave a new check with the right amount and we left.\r \r I noticed the both checks came of my bank account and I promptly called Mythos. I was not complaining just simply wanting to sort the problem out.\r \r The ?Manager/Owner was as rude as a person could be. Abrupt, uninterested, unhelpful and absolutely no apology for the mistake, he just could not have cared less. \r \r I told him I was surprised that his tone was abrupt and once again he could not have cared less. \r \r Be assured if for any reason you have a problem with this restaurant? You will get no customer service, in fact they will be made you feel you are in the wrong?even if you are overcharged by over $35??..\r \r Mythos, you have lost a loyal customer and it is sad to see you do not care less.\r \r \r more

Great food, great service 8/11/2007

We went for a Saturday lunch and were not disappointed. Waiter, Robert, was very personable and informative regarding menu selections. Food was delivered fresh and hot, good portions and prices. Put the chain Baba Ghanoush to shame for quality and variety of options. We will be back for sure! Pros: Quality food, service, prices and portions Cons: Other side of town for us! This place is addictive more

OH MY GOD, IT'S JUST THAT GREAT!!!! 7/20/2007

This is an upscale and yet cozy little place. Althought it is based on Greek food it really has something for everyone. I have never seen presentation quite like this, and the food is phenomenal. Apparently even the pastry deserts are hand made by the wonderful Chef Pete. I tell you it is like no other. We had the best calimari in town, and my husband got a steak, you think oh a steak how can they make a steak any different? Oh my, it was so very good. It is truley family owned, by 3 brothers, they make it a warm and enviting place to be, good luck to them because in my oppinon they have made it to the big time. So if you are looking for a nice place to eat or even fine dining, look no further than Mythos. Its is so worth the drive. Pros: Presentation of plates, Ambience, Service, Food!!! Cons: may be not the best place for small children more

yummy 7/16/2007

I've been waiting for this! Recommended by a friend, I had lunch here and it was wonderful. Attentive, friendly service, quaint setting and the food! I ordered the shrimp and polenta. It was wonderful. A bit on the spicey side (which made it wonderful) and beautifully prepared/served. The shrimp was cooked well (not rubbery) and the cream sauce complimented the polenta. In fact, everyone at the table had a delicious dish. We tried the Ya-Ya tart for dessert...a delight. We weren't rushed either. I can't wait to go back. Pros: great food for the price Cons: wouldn't take a large group here/don't take young ones more

Best fried calamari in the area 7/9/2007

If it's a Meditteranean or Middle Eastern restaurant we will try it. So, we did! And, we returned four times since and will go again. Frankly, I'm taken aback that some folks had a poor dining experience at Mythos. We've eaten both lunch and dinner on both weekdays and weekends. Each and every time, the selections were varied and excellent, the food was prepared superbly, and the overall experience simply wonderful. I agree with those who compliment the staff, the decor, and the quality of food. As I told a couple of the family owners, it seems that each time I return to Mythos, I expect it never to be as good as my prior visits, but in fact, it just gets better and better. For example, while dining there the week of July 4th, I ordered the calamari appetizer. I've had it there once before, but on this night it was simply incredible. The best I've had outside of Manhattan and Europe. Try it, you'll like it! more

Just Okay 6/20/2007

We ate at Mythos a few weeks back. I ordered the grilled salmon dish, which was tender and, thankfully, not overcooked. The accompanying vegetable was identified on the menu as endive, and I expected a braised Belgian-type dish, but was served a green leafy vegetable similar to collards which was so tough I was unable to cut it into bite-sized pieces. The salmon and rice pilaf were fine, if not exceptional. My companion ordered a pork chop with mashed potatoes. The potatoes were rustic and quite tasty and the pork was cooked to order.\r \r The server was attentive and helpful with the wine selection. Offering only one slice of bread per person seemed stingy for an upscale restaurant, however.\r \r Overall, the meal was acceptable, but we won't rush to return any time soon. Pros: Location, varied selection Cons: Not a great value for the quality more

EXCELLENT 6/19/2007

I have eaten and prepared greek food for over 40 years.I have been to restaurants in Greece[Athens,Crete,Santorini etc.]Raleigh,Cary.Mythos is by far the most authentic restaurant outside the mediterranean sea i have ever experienced. The specials are seasonal and well executed. The regular menu offers value for every taste, meat eaters, seafood, vegetarians, large eaters, nibblers. The wine list is extensive and an excellent match for the cuisine. If you are unsure of what to order, ask the frendly staff. They will guide you through the munu and even recommend the wine to match your meal.THIS RESTAURANT IS OUR FAVORATE WE GO THERE ALL THE TIME.WE RECOMMEND IT TO EVERY ONE! Pros: Food,Ambience, service. more

Very nice atmosphere and food- recommended! 6/12/2007

Very polite and courteous staff. The family obviously takes great pride in the quality of food. They even harvest olives from their own trees for the extra virgin oil they use. Nice atmosphere for a special occasion. My sesame tuna (ordered medium-rare) came back rare, but it was probably better that way; excellent use of different tastes to compliment the buttery tuna. My wife's salmon-stuffed chicken was very nice too, but as with most non-asian restaurants, the rice texture and taste was not good. Our calamari appetizer was cooked to perfection, but it could have done with a little less salt. These minor distractions were just, lets say, minor, and were mostly preferences of mine. Overall I'd highly recommend this to anyone. more

Very Disappointing ~ But does have Potential 4/28/2007

We had a very different experience from the last few reviews I have read. The restaurant decor was charming & very comfortable. Our server was fantastic - but the food was not. We found it to be bland and overpriced. For a family of 4 including 2 glasses of wine, our check was $115 - and w/ tip, over $130. This did not include coffee or dessert. I won't be back but will be interested in reading future reviews from other folks other than, perhaps, their very own employees. Pros: Good Wait staff, nice atmosphere Cons: Very overpriced for quality of food more

Best Lamb 4/17/2007

I grew up eating lots of kinds of lamb and I must admit that Mythos has the best lamb leg I had. If you are a fan of authentic Greek food, consider ordering it. It is so tender that it melts in your mouth. Manager/Owner Ike is knowledgeable in Greek cuisine. Feel free to ask him anything on the menu. \r \r The waiter will bring you a tray of desserts, instead of leaving you a copy of menu. You pick one and they'll bring a fresh serving to you immediately. \r \r Very nice atmosphere. Beautiful view. Elegant decor. I can't believe it only has 9.0 rating. \r \r Entree recommended: lamb leg, Yuvetsi. Pros: authentic Greek food, atmosphere Cons: not cheap more
