Best

I have purchased two instruments here before and to my surprise they are still as good as new today. I have nothing but praises for this people.

Worst

Ok, I am thinking I am just not worthy enough to shop at Music Millennium. The employees seemd like they were looking down on me. They did not offer to help, and when I asked them...

There are much better independent record stores out there. 4/3/2009

Every once in a while, my frustration w/ MM wears off and I return, only to be greeted with the reasons why I decide to primarily visit other Portland stores or order my music over the web. Repeatedly, I've seen promos clearly stamped by the distributor as ""not for sale"" with hefty price tags on them, and snobbish treatment by the staff when I have questions, particularly today, when the price tags did not equate to the advertised '20% off all DVDs month' sale. I was treated as though I was rude for asking for clarification. I'm all about supporting independent stores because I value the grassroots quality of music community, but MM kills that love. I'm not surprised that local record shops tragically continue to shut down if they treat music lovers in a way similar to how Music Millennium does. Pros: Big selection of music, incense smells good Cons: Snob city, rips off music lovers more

I want to give them 6 Stars 10/22/2006

Selection, Selection, Selection. The big box stores may have better prices but never a better selection. I love this place and go there every time I come to Portland PROS: Super selection CONS: Ok prices. more

Triple Fantastic 11/26/2005

Even though I'm not the biggest music fan in the world, Music Millenium still managed to intrigue me with its wide selection of well-priced music and DVDs. They offer music from all over the world, from mainstream to local bands. They also host a large selection of classical music which would be hard to find anywhere else. An all around good experience in a quirky location with a very knowledgeable staff. more

A Great Home-grown Music Store 9/12/2005

Music Millennium is a great music store. They have a incrediable selection of music, you can find anything and the staff is so helpful. I like the fact that it's a home grown store that's not a chain. They even have a customer appreciation day in the summer with music and free food! more

THE store for music! 8/15/2005

This is the greatest selection of music around, with extremely knowledgeable staff that will help you decipher which album has the track you are looking for. Even worth a visit for travelers! more

I am just not good enough, I guess? 8/5/2005

Ok, I am thinking I am just not worthy enough to shop at Music Millennium. The employees seemd like they were looking down on me. They did not offer to help, and when I asked them a question, they acted as if I waas bothering them! Well Ican get better service just about any place else, so I guess that is where I will shop... Any place other then Music Millennium! more

A PORTLAND LANDMARK..THE BEST IN THE NORTHWEST!! 7/31/2005

IF YOU LIVE IN PORTLAND FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME THEN YOU ARE SURE TO SHOP AT MUSIC MILLENNIUM AS IT IS A PORTLAND INSTITUTION. I AM 56 YEARS OLD & I HAVE BEEN BUYING MY "TUNES" HERE SINCE I WAS 19 YEARS OLD..AND IT HAS NOT CHANGED!!! SAME BUILDING..SAME WONDERFUL OLD TIME FEELING. IT IS LIKE THIS BUSINESS HAS WITHSTOOD THE TEST OF TIME AND HAS NOT CAVED INTO THE CORPORATE WORLD. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT YOUR TASTE IN MUSIC IS BECAUSE YOU ARE SURE TO FIND WHATEVER YOU LIKE HERE. AND THE WONDERFUL SMELL OF INCENSE IS STILL IN THE AIR. THE STAFF IS AS KIND AND HELPFUL AS WAS THE STAFF OF YESTERYEAR. THE PRICES ARE THE SAME AS OTHER MUSIC OUTLETS AROUND TOWN. I SHOPPED HERE BEGINNING IN MY TEENS..MY 36 YEAR OLD SON SHOPS HERE AND NOW MY 13 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER IS SHOPPING HERE. I HAVE RECENTLY RETIRED TO LAS VEGAS BUT EVERYTIME THAT I COME HOME TO PORTLAND I ALWAYS STOP BY THE MUSIC MILLENNIUM IF FOR NOTHING ELSE BUT THE GOOD MEMORIES..IF YOU PEOPLE LIVING IN PORTLAND HAVE NOT GONE THERE more

The mother-load for music lovers 5/10/2005

Best selection of new and used cd's in town. If you go into the store looking for a rare album, you'll find it. You'll likely find an album of a favorite group that you never knew had been created, too. The staff knows their material and knows how to help you find what you want. New and up-coming bands are often invited to play here, too. PROS: local business supports the community and good music CONS: more
