The main achievement of the Munson-Williams Arts Institute is the fact that it still puts on incredible exhibitions (like last-year's Rodin exhibit) in spite of the county and city's recent financial woes. The permanent collection itself is well worth seeing, as well, but my favorite part are the rooms in the annex, which testify not only to the riches of the founding Uticans, but also to the fact that Utica was at the time of the Institute's foundation a city of wealth, culture and refinement.
Another plus is the museum store, which offers a nice variety of art-related artifacts that are otherwise hard to find anywhere close. Handcrafted jewelry is offered that makes wonderful gifts.
