I have to say ... We have enjoyed Rosebud many times and supported Ron at Field of Greens ... However .... At Family Dog, not so much ... In fact, we will not be back to either restaurant ... We just wanted a plain burger for our 6yr old son - they took the hard line of ""no exceptions"" and no kids' menu ... Ok, we will take our $135.00 LUNCH elsewhere !!!!!!!! more

Terrific Service 3/24/2011

Last Friday night my family ventured out to the Highlands from Marietta. We usually don't visit the area since most of the restaurants are loud and crowded and my husband is very uncomfortable (tall--over 6'8""). My daughter was home for spring break and we decided to try something different. I had taken a Cooks Warehouse cooking class from the chef Ron and he spiked my interest in trying the restaurant. We saw my sister-in-law on Friday and invited her and her boyfriend to join us. She called by brother-in-law and he wanted to join as well. I made reservations for 6 of us. When I showed up, my brother-in-law brought his girlfriend and her son. Now we had 8. All the tables were reserved and there was no way we could squeeze 2 more places in. The host came over and opened the doors to a private room. It was fantastic!!! The concerns of loud and crowded were alleviated. We had a great meal. In addition to the wonderful atmosphere, the food was excellent. We have picky eaters in the family and all 3 of them ordered the fried chicken and enjoyed it. We will definitely be back. more

just what Morningside needed! 1/7/2011

While the menu isn't the healthiest, it will def provide you with comfort! I've been for lunch, dinner, brunch, cocktails.. it's always the same degree of excellent service & food. They even play food music. If you really want to be treated as a special guest, you should ask for Donnie. more

THE KOBE SLIDERS & FRIED CHICKEN ARE ADDICTIVE!!!! 9/1/2010

I had the kobe beef sliders Thursday and thought I had died and gone to heaven! THEN two days later I had the fried chicken. The DIFFERENCE in THIS CHICKEN is that it is boneless, lightly battered, not greasy, and perfectly seasoned.....as it should! The Chef/Owner walked table to table to check on patrons and their happiness. You can be at home wearing khaki's, shorts, jeans, or a sun dress!; music playing, outdoor patio, inside table, or high top at the bar....make a reservation today! more

We liked it a lot 7/14/2010

My brother visited me once and we went to this place called Rosebud for a meal. The food we ordered was savory, which we liked. The service crew was also very pleasant from the moment we entered the restaurant until we left. Everything went fine and I would love going back to this place again. more

EXCELLENT Brunch! 4/4/2010

We loved this place! I love the fact that it supports local suppliers and all is very fresh. I got the Belgian Waffle with blueberries and my fiance got the French Toast with Mascarpone. They were both VERY delicious. We also got the Bloody Bart and did not enjoy this as much. It was also very garlicky. I highly recommend this place though. Pros: Local, price, great food more

Good brunch.... that's about it (Ask for Sam- great server!) 1/22/2010

Rosebud has really yummy brunch- very tasty selections. I'm in love with the espresso (comparable to my favorite which is at Houston's) and the champagne with blueberry cider. The place is cute chic. HOWEVER, dinner...... yuck. I've been twice for dinner- the first time I had roasted chicken (they only do this one night a week) and it was by far the best I've ever had. Ever. The second time I went for dinner I ordered the sale- a white fish that comes with golden beets and apples. Could not have been more disgusting. The flavors don't blend, and the beets actually tasted like dirt. I sent it back and ordered the ahi tuna instead. I'm fine with my tuna rare- but not cold. It comes with a spicy slaw. Disgusting. The flavors in this dish do not compliment eachother at all. Not to mention the bartender does not know how to make a french martini. I had to send that back too. Yuck! Go for brunch, not dinner. Pros: Brunch! Cons: Most dinner entrees are gross more

Ambience is better than the food 12/22/2009

I've eaten several times at Rosebud since I live in the neighborhood. I've yet to be impressed with the food. First time I had a very fatty, dry pot roast; second time, trout --that was OK but was overpowered by the greasy bacon bits on top; last time, an unspectacular Kobe burger (french fries were great, though.) On the other hand, the things I most like about Rosebud are the cozy bar area, exposed brick and friendly, competent servers. All in all, I'll probably go back because it's convenient and the food isn't horrible. Pros: Nice cozy atmosphere Cons: Food is lackluster more

Great brunch! 11/22/2009

Southern, Soulful & Simply Fantastic 11/3/2009

I FINALLY made my way to Rosebud this past weekend after hearing such a great buzz about the place. We got there around 1pm on Sunday and had a short wait of about 10 minutes for Brunch. The layout of the restaurant is fantastic and we weren't crunched up to the bar as we waited for our table. There were tables built into the walls (with newspapers) and stools set up everywhere-- it was very inviting and a very relaxing place to wait for a table. The pomegranate mimosas were a refreshing way to start the day. For an appetizer we got some fried eggplant chips that were served with goat cheese and some kind of jam (tomato?). They were similar to fried green tomatoes, but had a much better texture and were much tastier than any fried greens I've ever had. I had the fried chicken for lunch and it was perfect-- seriously perfect. The mash potatoes ran into the sweet slaw and perfectly meshed with the crispy fresh green beans. I'll be back for the exact same dishes soon, but can't wait to try everything else. Pros: Everything was fresh, great atmosphere more

un melange 4/10/2007

Two friends and I went to Food 101 for dinner tonight. It was the first visit for two of us, and the second visit for the other person. The food was tasty, and the service was friendly. We split a plate of yummy calamari (try it with the duck sauce, for a surprisingly wonderful flavor combination). We each had a different main course, then we split the Belgian waffle dessert. The food came out of the kitchen very promptly, especially considering that I ordered risotto! Pros: delicious food, prompt service, variety of menu items Cons: noise, waiter not that good more
