I attended this trade school back in 97-99 it was a learning experience i can say that much but fun as well.. i and a few other students got the arts and crafts department up and running back then and helped beautify the campus and the town square..since i was learning a trade in landscaping.Mr. Dexter was the instructor . i miss it i enjoyed all that the campus had to offer.. i would recommend this type of trade school to someone that is truly in need..now that i sit and type this it brings back so many memories... more

When I first heard about the Mississippi Job Corps Center (MSJCC), I was very skeptical. I had a relative attend around 2003 and it seemed to have not helped her much. I still decided to go and I am so grateful that I did. Honestly, it?s up to the student to be successful in the program. Nobody will hold your hand the entire way, and honestly, nobody should. I went in to take the nursing program. It only took 3 months, since I already had my diploma. At a business meeting, the Business Community Liaison talked to us about ""Advanced Training"" through Job Corps. I made an appointment and followed up with him and today I'm proud to say that I'm enrolled in the TCU Advanced Training Program in Washington, D.C. The Mississippi center got me to where I am today. There are many opportunities within the center. Before I came to D.C., the Mississippi Job Corps Center took me on clothing trips so that I was prepared and needless to say, they paid for my plane ticket and luggage. I also received cash bonuses before I left. I still have a $1,000 to pick up from MSJCC when I finish Advanced Training. I Love the Mississippi Job Corps Center and it bothers me to hear people say negative statements about the Center. All the student has to do is show up, be respectful, and show them you want to better your life, and they will indeed do the rest. I?M LIVING PROOF!! more

Mississippi Job Corps 12/3/2008

I attended Mississippi Job Corps in the year of 1996. I decided to go because I had nothing left for me in the city I was from. I dropped out of school and getting into trouble was about the only thing I was good at doing at the time. I obtained my GED, two traits, and I joined the United States Navy. If it were not for my decision to attend the Job Corps center. I can truly say that I would either be dead, or in jail. And after 10yrs of serving in the United States Navy I can say to everyone thinking about going that to me, it was the best thing I have ever done in my life. I would recommend it to anyone. Job Corps of Crystal Springs, Ms 4/16/2008

My son came back with the same of education as he left home with. Now I understand that it is self motivated; each time my husband and I called we always got the run around. We tried visiting the school and again it got us nothing. I even tried calling his dorm director; she was no helped, each time i called she always told me we cannot find him right now but when we do I will make sure I stand beside him as he calls you back, yeah right. Again I stressed this is an independent school; but once he learned the environment he could do things at JobCorp that we would not let him do at home. The only time JC would call us his parents is when he got sick and when Hurricane Katrina came through. Maybe now they have set regulation and limitations but when our son attended it was a waste of our time and thier money. A lot of parents felt they use the kids to help fund the school and their paychecks. The kids were use as slaves in the early years for gain and prestige. more
