Fantastic salon and stylists! 4/20/2009

After may years of feeling somewhat "blah" about my color and cuts I decided to try Mint. I had a haircut with Allison and highlights done by Charlene. I can not say enough about the entire experience- from making the appt (and changing it) with Wendy, to the service, consultation, and actual styling and color that was done. Allison and Charlene are super professionals and incredibly knowledgable and honest. The atmosphere manages to be very fresh, upscale, and understated at the same time. There is absolutely no attitude here! I received first class treatment, a wonderful haircut and style, and fantastic color. I am so happy with my hair and so is my husband (he actually noticed!). Great deal on fabulous haircuts ($30 haircuts!) 4/9/2009

I use Wendy for haircuts. She's in their training program (though has completed school at Aveda Institute) and does a fabulous job, and the best part is that it's only $30. And before you leave, the salon owner inspects her work (your head) and approves or instructs anything Wendy might've missed, though I am always really pleased with it just as Wendy does it. Great new find! 4/3/2009

My husband & I have finally found the replacement for our long time fabulously talented stylist/colorist who moved to S. Amer. last year. We'd tried several places around town, but with the high expectations we had, no one could live up to the task. Then a friend recommended Mint. Allison gave both of us excellent precision cuts & Charlene did a beautiful job with my color. We also love the clean stylish spa-like atmosphere and the relaxing above-the-fray location on the 8th floor. Pros: friendly talented professionals & great atmosphere Cons: none more

Great Hair Model Program 4/2/2009

I've now been to Mint Salon twice for their Hair Model program. Wendy was wonderful, super friendly and knowledgeable. I was very satisfied with the end result, you can't go wrong with a $30 dollar color in a relaxing environment. My appointments have been on Friday at 11 am, perfect for an early lunch break and a great way to end the work week. Great Haircut! 3/31/2009

I've been going to Allison for haircuts since the 90s when she was in Chicago, then in New York at Sassoon downtown. Now she has her own place. I'd follow her anywhere. My hair is not easy to cut and she always does a great job! Pros: Allison's the best haircutter I've ever had ever! Cons: No cons more

Best Haircut Ever 3/22/2009

I have very short hair and have never found anyone anywhere that can cut my hair like Allison! I travel from Chicago to have her cut my hair. Sounds like an extravagance but it is worth it. She is the best and I would recommend her to anyone. Pros: Great space, always a great cut Cons: NONE more

Exceptional Stylist! 2/17/2009

I have followed Nadine P. from Sassoon to Serenity to Pangaea and now to MINT! Nadine has been my Stylist for many years. She is the only person I'd entrust with my hair. I've had my hair cut with Master/Senior Stylist at Vidal Sassoon at a way higher cost and was never satisfied. Nadine LISTENS to what I want and DELIVERS. I know that she understands my hair like no one else. Love her personality and her work. Would Never change her!!! more

I have followed Allison and Charlene from Sassoon, Arrojo, Pangea and was so happy to see them with their own place, MINT!\r I get so many compliments on my hair and love the relaxed atmosphere of Mint.\r I have tried out other salons in the city - some pretty famous ones but I always return to Allison and Charlene to remedy the 'damamge'! more

Charlene knows her color, I'm always very satisfied. Allison can cut any type hair, master stylist. You will like it, please try it. more

The "BEST" Salon in the city 1/12/2009

I was sick and tired of going to these "Up-scale" salons, and getting my hair jacked up for a ridiculous price. Once I found Mint that problem was solved. In my eyes it is a diamond in the rough, wonderful and charismatic stylist and a out of this world colorist. Mint is my number one salon. If I am unable to get my hair cut by Allison or colored by Charlene, it just wouldn't be done. If you haven't been there is it worth the try. The experience is wonderful and the finish product is even better. I always leave there looking like a new person! more

There is nothing more stressful than worrying if your haircut is going to come out right, which is why I go out of my way to go to MINT.. it's a great salon and with their highly skilled stylists, every time I am happy. Perfect haircut every time! 12/29/2008

The reason I started going to Mint was because my favorite stylist of all time, Nadine Pappalardi, just moved there to join her former friends from Vidal Sassoon. The space at Mint is minimal, stylish, and relaxing - just the way I like it. It's a small boutique salon and not overdone. However, for Nadine, I would follow her anywhere. I have gotten my hair cut by a lot of well-known stylists throughout the US I have to say that Nadine is the best I've ever had. For a guy who is very picky about attention to detail and having a *quality* cut (one that you do need to get recut every couple of weeks), I highly recommend Nadine's services. She is incredibly talented with a lot of experience and it shows. If you're looking for a high quality designer cut, you will not be disappointed by Nadine at Mint. The Best Haircut in Manhattan 12/29/2008

I feel so very fortunate to have discovered Allison. She is an an incredible stylist and a wonderful person. She is the only stylist that has ever understood my thick straight hair and how it should be cut. Which isn't any easy feat! She has changed my life so that I never have to think about my hair . Her new salon, Mint, is a serene space that is light and airy high above the hustle and bustle of the city. Would highly recommend and would follow Allison anywhere. more

Beautiful Salon, Amazing Cuts 12/12/2008

I would follow stylist Allison Burr to any location (and have). Her super precise cuts look terrific no matter your hair type (and my cut is tricky, b/c I have wavy hair, so it has to look good super straight and curly). This space, however, is truly a treat. The salon is basically a sunny, loft type oasis hidden high above the Herald Square madness. The first time I saw it I was ready to move it. . . more

Top of the line salon 12/8/2008

The decor is minimalist and sparkling, the service is personal. But best of all, Charlene and Allison are phenomenal at what they do. I've followed Charlene from Sassoon to Arrojo to Mint, but I've had my hair highlighted by others as well (usually during her transition periods), and each time I do it just reconfirms that Charlene is, without reservation, the best colorist in NYC. As for Allison, she has consistently given me the best bang cuts (really, not so easy to do) and I'm sure that soon she will be my primary stylist. The only drawback to Mint is the trek up there, but for me it was worth it to have my hair done by Charlene & Allison. As for the cost, I find it on a par with other salons. more

Amazing cut & color in stylish place 12/4/2008

I recently went to Mint Salon to get my hair cut/styled & highlighted. I have been to many salons coming out with my hair too blonde/unnatural looking. However, Charlene gets it right. She knows of the right natural looking color to highlight my features & skin tone while listening to what color I want. As for my haircut, Allison knows how to cut my hair so that it looks stylish & fresh. Since my hair is extremely thick & wavy, it has a mind of its own, so I need a hairstyle that will work with my type of hair. It is refreshing to know that my new haircut will look good even at home when I style it myself. Charlene & Allison both work with the client's wishes for his/her hair, while also offering their expertise. The salon also has a fab ambiance, such that it is an open, airy, loft-like, minimalist, sleek & extremely modern. I highly recommend this salon. Great Haircuts for Men 11/21/2008

There are very few barbers or hair stylist who have been able to deal with my hair or give me a haircut that I was happy with...that was until I found Mint Salon. My hair always looks and feels great, services are reasonably priced, and the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. I highly recommend Mint Salon for men...my girlfriend gets her haircut there too and has equally great things to say about the experience and outcome. more

Founded by professional hair colorist, Charlene Dougan and professional hair stylist, Allison Burr, Mint opened in October of 2008 and quickly became a buzz worthy salon competing with some of the best hair salons in New York City.
