I have beengoing to Mimi s for 2 years. Clare who recently left always did a wonderful job. My sister also has gone to Mimi's for years and was also pleased. Unfortunately our last experience was unbelievable. My daughter who plays a lot of high school softball is busy most night after school with games/practice so we were happy that an appointment was available to get her hair done for prom. Being 17 we wanted her to make the call to request the cost of a hair coloring and cut.She put the phone call on speaker when she called because my husband and were in the room and we could make sure she was asking the right questions and we could fully understand the response from the employee from Mimis. My daughter was told the color and cut would be between $57-$67. My daughter and I do not get our hair colored at salons so we did not have any preconceived dollar amount. My daughter also stated that she wanted her hair color to be done where there is 2 different colors involved and would that be a problem.The response from the employee was No. Once again, my husband and I were overhearing this conversation. When my daughter was in the hairdressers chair,she stated that the cost would be over $100. I had my daughter take $70 out ofher bank account to pay for her hair to be done for prom. I was picking up the tip. When my daughter realized she didn't have enough money to pay, she told Donna that we had planned on the highest figure we were quoted $76. I then received a call from my daughter and I spoke with Mimi the Owner/Manager. I was thinking that perhaps a new employee gave the price and it was not correct and I was willing to pay some more for the color/cut but not the full amount since I feel that the employee should have been more properly trained. Mimi stated that it could not be done for that amount and wasn't willing to compromise or give any reasonable concern of providing decent customer service. Mimi handed the phone to Donna WITHOUT TELLING ME. This action totally surprised me. Donna reiterated that she doesn't believe that someone quoted a price...they don't give prices over the phone and we needed to come in for a consultation first -which was the first time I heard anything about a consultation. Donna took the clips out of my 17 year old daughters hair said they cannot give her service and she needed to leave. My daughter was mortified that she was being told to leave a place of business in such a matter (3 other patrons overheard Mimi raising her voice on the phone and then telling my daughter to vacate the premise). This is an experience that my daughter will learn a lot from and understand how important it is to thank business and individuals providing good customers service and to know that some business are more focused on revenue. We will not be returning to Mimi's and have shared and will continue to share this very unnecessary and unfortunate experience.
