If you haven't already figured it out yet, I'm all for service. If I get great service, I am very happy with the place of business that I visited. So, with my visit to the Singer Sewing & Vacuums shop in Chandler, I was again surprised with the quality of the service I received. The shop manager, Bryan, really bent over backwards to make sure my mom and I were getting all of the information possible about the machine that we were considering to purchase. He let us look through the owners manual, answered a whole bunch of questions, let us look up information on the internet, and even called other people to get answers for a few of the questions he could not personally answer.
We originally went to this shop because they had a coupon a few months ago... and even though the coupon expired, we noticed that it was not too far from home. Knowing that we wouldn't have been able to use the coupon anyway, we wanted to get an idea on how much it was going to cost to get my mom's sewing machine fixed. Unfortunately, the repair was going to cost way more than what my mom was willing to pay, so Bryan gave us the option to trade in that machine for a new one. I think we were in there about 2 hours before we made up our minds.
From my understanding, the owners have only had this shop for a bit over 6 months and the previous owners really had the shop in a mess when it was handed over. Considering everything that they do in the shop, it's not surprising that they still have a few areas a bit unorganized. Since Bryan was so patient with us, we were in turn patient with him while we tried to locate the machine that we decided on - and we got an awesome deal on it too. :-)
I'm sure that no shop like this will be perfect in every aspect, but if you want someone that will really help you pick out the right sewing machine or vacuum for your needs, this is the place to go. Plus, it is my personal opinion that we as consumers really need to try to help keep small businesses like this open and not let the mega giants like Walmart or Target take over and close down the competition. If that were to happen, then were would we take our sewing machines and vacuums for service? Plus, those mega stores have nothing close to the service that I got when I visited this store.
