Bad Birthday Present! 9/23/2010

I have been to midori many times and have fallen in love with the TJ and Family rolls.. My family decided to take me there for my birthday this year. However, most of them are light eaters and they didnt want all you can eat. When we told the waiter this, they insisted that we must all do ALL YOU CAN EAT. After trying to reason with the manager, they insisted that we all do AYCE or that we divide into two groups and the group not participating in AYCE would sit on the other side of the room. after hearing this we were deeply upset and just got up and let. we went to light and healthy sushi in woodland hills instead. the sushi isnt as fresh there but they have a good variety and the employees are much more couteous and personable. more

Anti-Children 1/10/2010

They are Nazis! I had my whole family go down and sit. Before we started eating, they told me that my 7 year old had to order the all you can eat as well. We all know that most 7 y/o don't like sushi. She had the McD's Chicken nuggets with her (they saw that). They insisted that She had to order something. Why am I going to make my daughter over eat. She doesn't eat any of this stuff anyway ,I told them. I called the manager and she said that she HAD to order something. We got up and took our business else where. They missed out on a good tip and customers. I'm telling everyone about this. It is a big DEAL. I think they have great food but Encino Madori managment is NO GOOD (for that reason and others)! They also time you to the exact min. for the all you can eat and they are so busy that its not even worth it. AGAIN, Its ok food, but....... DON'T GO WITH CHILDREN! They are anti children. Well if management reads this, Here in The USA we love our kids and don't force them to do stuff like they do in JAP! I thought they learned their lesson with WWII NUKE.. LOL Pros: none that I can think of. Cons: Anti-children, BAD managment,&service. more

MY VISA NUMBER WAS STOLEN AFTER I ATE THERE 1/3/2010

I had been there before without any problems. We had always paid in CASH, since they had a ""cash price"" that DID NOT INCLUDE TAX. Sound strange? We never knew how they did that legally, but they did and we always used that option. However, we went recently and were told that they had discontinued the policy, so I gave them our credit card of choice, our AMEX card. They told us they did not take AMEX....so we gave them our VISA, which WE HADN'T USED FOR A WHILE. The very next day, after using the card at Midori, there were a number of FRAUDULENT CHARGES made on the card. This continued for several days before the credit card company (VISA) called us to alert us and question the charges. The thieves had stolen our number and charged about $1,000 in charges at shoe stores, Game Stop and Ross for Less to name a few. They were all small charges that would normally go unnoticed. I am NOT saying that it is ""Midori policy"" to steal credit card numbers, but this is what happened. Just saying.....for cheap sushi be safe and pay cash! Pros: Cheap Sushi Cons: Your Credit Card may be vulnerable more

Good Quantity, Above Average Quality 10/28/2009

Went here with my boyfriend earlier this week. The place is all you can eat, and to be honest the sushi was good for an all you can eat place. A lot better than some of those sushi buffetts, and the service was friendly. The only drawback was the wait! OMG! It took so long I almost passed out from hunger! Just when we were about to go somewhere else, they were ready to seat us. My advise, get there early or be prepared to wait! Pros: Lots of pretty good sushi Cons: Be ready to wait a looooong time! more

All you can eat! 8/6/2008

The same rules apply here that apply at all other all you can eat places. Dont rag on this one. Go in a large group and try everything! I have eaten here about 5-6 times and the fish is always fresh. Love the tuna, yellowtail, shrimp tempura roll, crab nugget, BSC, smelt egg, hot night, hanaka roll all good! $25 for all you can eat and it is worth it. The staff just need to smile more :) business is booming! Eat here and you will be stuffed with goodness. Pros: Fresh fish, yummy rolls, good value! Cons: lackluster employees more

All you can Eat- Amazing 3/6/2008

I always go to the Encino location, even though I have been to the Sherman Oaks one once. I loved both, we stay until they close and I've seen how intensely they clean that place after close. The All you can eat isn't limited to anything, there is no limit, I always get all you can eat. And it's so freaking good. The service is always good, they are always quick and friendly. Maybe people don't get friendly service because they aren't friendly.. you have to give a lil to get a lil you know! I'm always friendly to them and they're always friendly to me :) Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing, even has convenient parking more

NOT FRESH SUSHI 12/21/2007

My husband and I are sushi lovers; we have tried almost all the sushi restaurants in Encino area. Last night we took our friends out to eat at the Midori Encino (all you can eat) sushi restaurant, and let me tell you the fish was horrible it was without any doubt not fresh. When we expressed our concern to the manager/owner there was no reaction. The all you can eat is only limited to rolls and sushi with rice, there is definitely more rice then a regular roll would include, the trick is that you have to finish all the rice, or they will make you pay for it. Midori also charges more for drinks and green tea which is usually free in other places. This is how they get you, so after all our bill was the same as if we were to go any where else, but Midori limits your choices. As well the service was awful, the waitress told us that we only had 1 hour to finish all you can eat sushi, after one hour we would have to pay for additional orders. For the same buck there are much better places in the area. My main concern was the not fresh fish and I would not recommend this place to anyone. Pros: NOT FRESH FISH, HORRIBLE SERVICE more

Nice affordable sushi... for about an hour 11/15/2007

The coolest thing about eating at Midori is all you can eat sushi for one hour that is made to order. You would typically spend about $30 per person but you get good quality sushi and a full stomach. Pros: Good quality and it's all you can eat made to order sushi (for an hour) Cons: This place gets packed and the parking gets scarce more

Nice surprise! 9/10/2007

Went to Midori for the first time last Sunday. Didn't have a reservation but were seated immediately anyway. The wait staff was attentive and kind. We did not have the ""all you can eat"" sushi since we were not famished. However, everything was so good that we still managed to stuff ourselves. We will definitely return with hearty appetites. Pros: food and service Cons: parking? more

good grade sushi for the price you can afford 7/27/2007

Fast service, all you can eat sushi that is actually really good and the price you'll feel really good about. Parking in the rear but if you can find a spot in front you've got it made. The chefs are super cool and tend to you after fairly consistently..Even during the busiest times. Out of the 3 Midori sushi's in the valley (Studio city & sherman oaks) by far the Encino is the better one due to a) parking b) service. Pros: good food, fast service and prices you can afford Cons: parking more
