I really wanted to write this. Now a days most people are always ready to write a complaint but won't take a time of day to write someething nice. Well the good Dr is just that, GOOD! Lately I've been in the Hospital and quite a few of the doctors were just plane rude and wouldn't give you an explanation except for only using doctors terms. Dr. Borookhim always broke it down simple andwas very patient in answering questions. Biggest Shock, he returned my phone calls. Talk about ""velkum tu Fontasy Islund"". I was new to Los Angeles and found myself with a major medical problem and ended up in Cedar?s emergency room. I got a referral to see Dr. Borookhim. He saw me right away the next morning and was very genuinely concerned for my health and well being. His office made sure that my insurance company rushed approval for the scans and test that I needed. Dr. B sent me e-mail to check up on how I was doing after referring me to a surgeon. He even called to wish me Happy Birthday and follow up on my Physical Therapy. He is a very professional, caring, and has great follow-up. I have already referred a friend to his office! Dr. Borookhim has been providing medical care for our Mother, age 91, for the last year and has shown himself to be totally concerned and interested in her welfare. As her new physician, he reevaluated her conditions, and medications, and made the appropriate changes when necessary. To date, we have been extremely satisfied with his professional skills and manners and have seen positive changes in our Mother. He follows up by contacting the family when the situation(s) requires him to do so and we, the family, trust him implicitly on all medical matters because of his hands-on and common sense approach to medical care. more

Dr. Borookhim is the kind of doctor that makes you feel at ease when you go to see him. His amicable and professional manner was evident to me from the first time I went to him for a check up. My elderly mother has been a patient of Dr. Borookhim's for over two years now, ever since she was hospitalized with pneumonia on a Friday afternoon. Her primary doctor simply told us to go to an emergency room where he was not on staff. Her pneumonia cleared up quickly but Dr. B. was concerned about her heart. Her ""regular"" doctor never mentioned anything to us and was content to see her every six months and give her blood-pressure medicine and lasix for the last eight years. It turns out she has a severely clogged artery. We began to see Dr. B. because he really seemed to care about improving her dangerous condition and extending her life. She has had excellent care from him and he has worked hard to find the right combination of medications for her. He never settles for ""good enough"" instead he continually strives for even more improvement. He doesn't give up. He is warm, accessible and never too busy to answer a question, make a referral or deal with paperwork. My mother is 89 and he always tells her he wants her to be heathly and live much longer. As a clinical psychologist myself, I love it that he respects the elderly and conveys a positive attitude about health and life no matter a person's age. I feel fortunate for having met him both personally and professionally. I have no qualms about referring my own patients to him because I trust him as a doctor and know that my patients will be in good hands and treated with dignity and respect. I met Dr. Borookhim while I was hospitalized at Cedar Sinai Hospital for atril fibrillation. He was my attending physician. Dr Borookhim is very competent and has a very amicable personality. Doctor Borookhim has been a wonderful doctor that has been there when I faced some critical health issues. He genuinely cares, and it is very obvious in the service he provides. He has shown concern for me and my health as a family member would, and has gone to large lengths to assure that my treatments were complete, with recommendations to assure my health thereafter. Being fairly new to the area, I turned to yelp (among other sources) to try to find a family doctor. I wasn't let down by the reviews I read here. Dr. Borookhim was very professional and extremely helpful. After not having had a check up in about four years and being a little nervous he set my mind at ease. more

I first met Dr. Borookhim in at Cedars Sinai. He was referred to me by the attending MD in the ER. Boy was I lucky to have met him! He is so thorough and kind and posesses an excellent bedside manner. While an inpatient in the hospital, he check in every day to see how I was progressing, his concern felt genuine and I appreciated the visits. During my subsequent appointments with the Dr., he explained procedures to me very thoroughly, and is always willing to answer my questions in a very patient manner, never condescending. Due to some medical concerns, he has had to refer me to a few medical specialist, who have been equally as proficient, and when I mention I am a patient of Dr. Borookhim, it appears to me that I am treated with the utmost care. I have been very impressed overall. However, the most impressive thing about Dr. Borookhim is his availability. He has been available to me when I need him, day or night and I truly appreciate that extra touch. I would recommend him very highly. His staff is extremely helpful as well. I have been a patient of Dr. B. for 3 years. He is a kind person and this weekend he impressed me even more. I know of no physician in Southern California who responds to his own patients even when he is away out of town on vacation. He rarely leaves town to the best of my knowledge and even when he does he chooses to make his own calls back as I experience today and I find that amazing. As an ER physician, I have worked with Dr. Borookhim quite a bit and I have to say he has been truly wonderful. He always responds immediately when paged day or night. He is one of the few primary doctors who actually comes in to the ER to see his patients instead of waiting for them to get admitted. He takes time to listen to his patients as well as putting in the effort to make sure they have a clear grasp of what is going on. I look forward to continuing to work with Dr. Borookhim and would recommend him to anyone looking for a terrific internist. more

I was referred to Dr. Borookhim after a vist to the emergency room after a fall. He was probably the 5th or 6th doctor I saw in the aftermath of that fall and he's the one I have stuck with. His friendly disposition, thorough explanation of his diagnosis and his knowledge of medicine is what keeps me going back to him. Dr B. is well know to me from his rounds at Olympia and Cedars Hospital. He is very pleasant and concerned physician and well liked by the nurses and staff. I initially met Dr. Borookhim when I got admitted to Cedars Sinai through the emergency room 2 years ago. Since then he has been my physician and I am very content with his services. His office is very pleasant and I always have been able to speak to him on a very rapid basis. After hours patient calls go to his mobile phone so you don't have to waste time talking to operators and machines which is nice. He listens well and I never get the feeling that he is trying to rush me through. His diagnostic skills are superb and many times he chooses not to prescribe medications when they are not absolutely indicated. When I ask him questions he gives understandable explanations to his plan of care which is nice. He has even makes house calls if necessary which is a rare thing in this town.
