The best staff on Lake Norman 8/28/2008

My wife and I were recently there for a birthday dinner on a friday night. When we first approached the establishment I was appeased to noticed an italian fashioned fountain and large wooden doors accompanied by a red carpet. I was only on vacation from Brooklyn and didnt expect to see anything this nice in the dirty south. When we walked through the beautiful doorway we were greeted firmly by two young ladies whom brought us to our destination. We sat at a round table on the second floor overlooking the entire restaurant. I noticed many chandliers and lovely cherrywood which is my favorite. We were greeted with smiles by our server and she instantly got our drink order and brought them to us quickly. The drinks were stiffer than a dead body (which is a good thing). The bread was good but I have tasted better. I could tell it wasnt fresh. We started with calamari, brushcetta, and musssels which I felt was the best part of the meal. My wife ordered the risotto which stood up to the server's descritpion. I ordered the NY strip which I thought was fairly tastey but I had a side of spaghetti with tomato sauce which I must say was the worst I have ever tasted. For dessert we were given a complementary tiramisu with a candle which was very good. We also ordered a massive chocolate cake which was heavenly. We then noticed there was live music at the bar so we proceeded over. We were greeted promptly by two Italian Long Islander's and a beautiful girl from Long Islander as well. They were amazing. Our drinks were perfect every time and they treated us like ""family"". They kept saying ""join the family"". I loved them. The Boardwalk Band was also fun and very inviting. At one point Mike and Anthony even saluted with us just as if we were family. I am bakc in Brooklyn now but if I come back to the Carolina's I know where to go. EXCELLENT SERVICE!!! Pros: SERVICE, DRINKS, ATMOSPHERE Cons: food needs uprade more

My Son and I went here on a recommendation and found it very good. Service was very good, and I was pleased to find out that the Chef was the Owner. more

A BAD EXPERIENCE ALL AROUND!!! 5/25/2008

My husband and l recently ate here and found the restaurant to be very nice inside and the wait staff was excellent. The FOOD was HORRIBLE! Small portions for the price and NO FLAVOR. l was expecting a rich tomato basil garlic sauce and I could not even tell l was in an italian restaurant. The sauce was the worst excuse for italian sauce l have ever tasted ..very bland..very little flavor and not much of it. l would expect an italian restaurant to have a handed down sauce from some ancestor that is awesome and considered the BEST by all. This tasted like it came out of an institution size can. We were shocked that it was so bad. My husbands meal was supposed to have a garlic lemon wine sauce and you could not even tell there was any sauce on it. No lemon flavor, no garlic flavor or visible and no wine flavor. Absolutely NO FLAVOR!! We were very disappointed and can not believe anyone would give this restaurant a good rating since ours was so bad. The bread was good though..they say it is made right there. If they are making the sauce there...they should find someone's old handed down tried and true recipe because theirs misses by miles. Get a real italian recipe and we might come back. The service and atmosphere was good. l guess now we know why we had no trouble getting a table on Friday night. WIth so many northerners moving down, there is bound to be someone that has a great sauce recipe..FIND THEM and we will come back. Frankie's on Morehead has better sauce and food. The amount of food for the price was not good either especially since pasta is a low cost food...A BAD EXPERIENCE ALL AROUND I AM SORRY TO SAY. Pros: AMBIENCE AND WAIT STAFF EXCELLENT Cons: FOOD HORRIBLE more

average at best 4/6/2008

This place has a very nice atmosphere. The attention to detail in the design of the restaurant is obvious...very nice wood, beautiful chandeliers, and the like, although the butcher paper on top of the linen tablecloths detracts from the ambience a little...I felt like we should have been given crayons instead of a wine list when we were seated. Pros: nothing particularly outstanding Cons: food not that good, especially for the price more

Great food and even better prices!! 10/13/2007

What lovely place to dine! The wait staff was excellent and courteous. The atmosphere was very elegant but relaxed. There is a lovely water feature as you walk in and another one in the foyer. Indoor dinning plus outdoor dinning gives you some choices. There is even dinning in the balcony. They tables are draped with elegant linens and real napkins. Mahogany and chandeliers make this a wonderful place for a quiet retreat and date, but it is family friendly as well; especially in its prices. You can feed your family here for a fraction of what it would cost at Olive Garden and the food is BETTER! The raviloies are HAND MADE and to die for and the portion size is great. A small cheese pizza on the kids menus will feed two kiddos!! Warm home made bread is served with a special herb dipping sauce to start you off. Be careful you don't eat too much of the wonderful bread and then have no room for your meal!! We'll back again and again. Pros: Ambience, PRICES, FOOD, SERVICE more
