Mi Piace

Good: Decor and Greeting. Bad: The food was horrible. My husband had a Greek salad, I had the bow tie pasta with salmon and my daughter had a basal/tomato pizza. To start off the lettuce in the salad was wilted. As though the water was not completely drained when they washed it. My pasta was chewy and salty. It was so salty I had to squeeze a lemon into it. My teenage daughter is usually very easy to please when it comes to pizza, but even she complained. She said we should have gone to Miceli's in Studio City.. Improvements: I don't mind paying for good food. However, this place was NOTat all worth it. I never come out to Pasadena to eat and this place(Mi Piace) seemed very busy outside and so my husband suggested we try it. I really wished he hadn't. It was HORRIBLE.. Other: It also took them twenty minutes to send a waiter over to our table. It was one of the worst eating experiences I have ever had.. more

A colleague and I were recently in Pasadena on business and needed a comfortable place to grab coffee and a snack. After walking a few blocks on Colorado, we chose Mi Piace, owing largely to its stylish interior and pleasant sidwalk cafe atmosphere. Despite the late morning hour, the cafe was well-patronized with both leusirely coffee-sippers and a few late-morning couples at breakfast. At our request, we were seated in one of the comfortable booths along the wall, and were quickly drawn in by the appealing menu -- our "light snack" turned into hearty egg breakfasts without a second thought. The service was prompt, the coffee (as expected in an Italian cafe) was excellent, and the open, high-ceilinged space made for an unusually pleasant meeting room. At $30 for breakfast, coffee and tip for two, Mi Piace is not an inexpensive choice, but the inviting setting and well-executed service make it a solid value if you're willing to pay a little extra for style and comfort. (There's an equally-stylish tapas bar right across the street - next time we're in town we'll try that for comparison and let you know how it goes). more

I love the food and the dessert here. It's easily my favorite Italian restaurant. I don't even know what to recommend because every dish I've had was great. But you have to leave room for dessert. They have a great selection of desserts. It's a great place to take a date or to go with a group of friends. It has a great cozy atmosphere and many attractive servers. more

Mi Piace is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Southern California and also one of my favorite restaurants in Pasadena. Their lasagna with bolognese sauce is terrific, and my husband always has the linguine al pescatore, with a wonderful mix of mussels, clams, scallops, shrimp, and fish. Be sure to save room for dessert! Both the black and white bread pudding and the tiramisu are wonderful. more

The design of the restaurant creates a really high-class atmosphere. Besides regular italian dishes, the dessert at the counter are the ones that catch your eye. They have a variety of dessert, the cholocate ones are especially good. You can also choose to sit at the bar for a drink if you don't want a formal meal. more

yummy! mi piace just got redecorated so the new setting rivals any westside italian restaurant. they have great bread and almost all the pastas are good. they have great seafood and the calamari is excellent. it's a great date place but if you have a big group, get a reservation. more

people usually think of mi piaci as a great place for a romantic, classy italian pasta dinner. however, i recently went here for breakfast and found out they also serve up great omlettes, fruit bowls, and other traditional brunch fare. the prices are surpisingly reasonable and the portions are large. they had a wide selection of omlettes and i had a hard time making my decision. when i finally decided on the vegetable egg white omlette, i was please to find a generous side of fruit included on the plate. if you want a healthy breakfast in a beautiful atmosphere, start your day at mi piace. it's right in old town so you can shop afterwards! more
