The new Owner/Doctor is great 3/27/2012

I took my Amstaff to Mesa West Pet Hospital a few days ago to get neutered. The Doctor was great! She was very gentle while trying to take my dog to the back (he was scared). She really took care of my pup and the staff was great too. The Doctor gave a great explanation of the importance of leaving the cone on my puppy and when to give him medicine. I'm glad I found a new Veterinarian is Costa Mesa I can trust and know my dog is in good hands when I'm not around. Thanks Dr. Lepera and staff! more

A true gem 3/17/2012

This place is so wonderful - just walking in you get a warm feeling. The people who run this place are the most caring and professional vets I've ever met. After taking my dog to three other hospitals and being unhappy with the level of care, I was overjoyed to find this place. I recommend the place to all my friends. more

Nice People and cheap price 3/15/2012

I live nearby and I used to go to another one of the vet hospitals in the area. I took my dog in last week for a regular check-up and a dental and the new vet was great and answered my questions. The tecks are really nice and I didn't have to wait long at all. The prices are good because I used to pay way too much for dentals at the other place, which is why I went here. The tecks and Vet speak spanish too. more

Our Pets Vet 10/25/2011

We have been taking our pets here for 2 years now, and I love this place! I have never been nickeld and dimed, always got more information than I expected, and Dr. Campbell diagnosed and treated my pets for stuff i didn't know existed. I say this because I have worked in the Veterinary field for years, and I still do, but even with all my knowledge, I know great Veterinary care when I see it. No, I do not work here, I work for a different practice, yet I keep paying full price, because the care is so great. I just met Dr. Alley today, and I have to say he is pretty great. My dog Bruce is apprehensive of men, and I was a little scared after I heard the other Dr. left. They met today, and it went great. Dr. Alley actually came through the door, and got on his knees, and offered Bruce a treat before even petting him. He was slow and calm, and patient, and Bruce actually walked over to him, and took the treat. Bruce started wagging his tail, and was actually happy. Now I don't know about you, but when my dog likes or doesnt like someone, that's a pretty good indicator for me one what type of person they are. I am so relived that he liked him, because I didn't want to find another vet. It speaks volumes when you work at a vet in the same area, but take your dogs someplace else. It's not that I don't like where I work, it's just not about me, it's about my pets. Last, I only gave them 3 stars due to the lack of freshness of the hospital. With everything out there being so advanced, this place is still run down a little. I have reffered several friends here, and they all are return clients. The front office receptionist's Angela and Aubrey are fantastic, and my dogs love them. Plus the prices are fantastic, and if you think they are expensive, think again. I know first hand. more

Compassionate and Knowledgeable 10/21/2011

Knowledgeable, Compassionate, Helpful & Professional Dr. Alley and his staff at Mesa West pet hospital, are the best in the city! They know that our pets are part of the family, and treat them as such. I have always left the clinic happy with the services provided, and with a sense of relief that everything has been done for my cat that is needed. Every time I have called with a question or concern (and that has been quite often), the doctor gets back to me quickly, takes his time to make sure I have asked, and he has answered, all the questions I needed. Dr. Alley is very knowledgeable in all aspects of veterinary medicine, and if he doesn't know the answer to a difficult question, he will find out for you or send you to an appropriate specialist that he trusts. The costs are inexpensive, and they will never nickel and dime you on random services. I truly can't praise this hospital enough. All the techs are nice and very willing to help. It is truly a clinic full of animal lovers who treat your animal like their own! Thanks. more

Worst Pet Hospital Ever 6/13/2011

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. DO NOT take your pet here if you care about him/her! The positive comments you find here are from the staff NOT from actual customers. This place is a complete joke. I took my puppy here during business hours and had to wait nearly an hour for the Dr. as she strolled in late. The staff has no clue how to be caring or helpful. After the visit, they tried to convince me to spend over $300 on misc. treatments for my pup, which I denied and payed only for the necessary work. Afterwards, they lost my pups information. Once I told them that I was going somewhere else, they said they didn't care. I repeat DO NOT take your animal here. There are several other great Pet Hospitals in the area. more

Can't Believe What I Saw 7/30/2010

Today I witnessed the loving, caring staff @ this pet hospital save a 5 mo. chihuhua's life!! The pet's family brought this dog in and it was totally unresponsive, near death. The family could NOT pay anything to save it's life & the staff immediately took the dog into an exam room, hooked up a catheter, and surround it with warm gloves. After 10 minutes of immediate, life-saving treatment, the dog had it's head up and was moving. The staff very carefully explained to the pet's family if they could not afford treatment to save the dog's life, they could sign a ""Relinquish of Ownership"" form & the would give the necessary treatment (worth over $600.). It was a mircle.... and I cried in the waiting room watching it all go down. Pros: Caring staff, reasonable prices Cons: Busy staff more

I would not reccomend this place to anyone 1/3/2010

this place was awful. from the moment i got there the staff was rude and very unprofessional! My boyfriend and I took our 8 week old puppy there and when we were in th exam room waiting for the Vet to come in we overheard the girl at the front desk saying to the vet that we were a young couple and she thought we had money issues. I know we should have left right at thapoint but we justwanted to see what was wrong with our baby. Our puppy was dianosed with parvo and of course we were going to spend the money to get him the treatment he needed. Howeverthe vet kept saying to us that they were about to close and we needed to hurry up and decide what we wanted to do. We decided to take him to my moms pet hospital where they saved one of her puppies from the same disease. Since my puppy was dehydrated the vet was going to give my puppy fluids so we could drive him to the other hospital. However she did not give him fluids stating she could not get the IV in him. She instead gave my 4lb dehydrated puppy a pain injection and his heart stopped beating. The lady from the front desk came back in the exam room and I asked wht was taking so long and she said everything was fine that it was jus a long process but that they were almost finished. It was like they were tryingto cover up what they had done to my little pupp. Minutes later they came in and said tha my puppy didnt make it. When I went in to say my goodbyes the vet herself was crying. to me, not only is that unprofessional but also a huge sign to me that she screwed up. At this point I was far too emotional to even realize what was gong on therefor I could not ask any of the questions racing through mymind. I wrote them a check for the $500 and still left without my puppy who was notbout to die before i took him to this place. he was sick, but not dying. A couple days later when I was a little more coherent I started calling other pet hospitals to ask questions and not to my surprise they all said mypuppy probablly stopped breathing because he was most likely overdosed with pain meds. The first thing my puppy needed was fluids nota pain injection. \r I was advised to contactthe vet board and stop payment on my check until further investigation. Surprisingy, I cancelled the check and a week later the hospital contacted me to pick up my puppys ashes that were creamated and still to this day, over a month later they have not called me about the cancelled check. To me, another reason Iknow they areguilty. Because of the comments we overheard them saying I truely believe these people are not only unethical but they did not give my puppythe treatment he needed becausetheythought we didnt have the money to get him the treatment he needed, which we did. Also, it was close to closing time and she wanted to go home, but I trusted her as a professional and she should have been more careful.\r I really would not recommed this place to anyone who cares about there pet. Pros: it was close to my house Cons: everything more

Much better than it used to be! 7/30/2009

The old vet used to keep weird hours, but they have a new doctor and new staff members. The experience there is now much more professional. I boarded a dog there for eight days, and the staff was so friendly and kind to him. I'm so grateful for their help! Pros: Inexpensive Cons: ? more

Great new service! 4/14/2009

I took my pug here a few years ago and was not satisfied with the visit. I was hesitant about coming back, but during the Wahoo's grand Reopening, Mesa West had a booth set up with a banner saying they were under new management. \r I brought my dog in for a wellness check up and vaccines and was very pleased! The staff is entirely new and extremely friendly. They greeted us at the door with a smile and were very compassionate towards my dog. The new doctor was very nice and answered a lot of my questions. Their prices are very affordable (cheap), but their compassion, service, and care was incredible! Their hosiptal got a new make over and their boarding area was very clean. I felt very comfortable with my experience there and was glad that I decided to come back. My pug now has a vet for life! Pros: New management more

Horrible 4/3/2009

No customer service! Had to wait 2 hours one time for an appointment! Diagnosed my 3 Month old puppy with Glaucoma, took her to 3 other vets that proved she did not. This place and people here disgust me. They charged me $20 each for two bottles of eye drops my dog didn't need!! I'm just glad her vaccinations are done with and that I don't ever have to go back here. Hope your experience is better then mine.\r Pros: Kind of Cheap Cons: Everything Else more
