Kettlebells is an awesome class! 2/8/2011

McBurney is an awesome facility. I'm here all the time and use everything from running track to the workout machiens to the pool. I am currently taking kettlebell training with Richard Lehman. It boggles my mind that his class isn't promoted as much because it's easily the best thing I've taken here! more

Excellent Gym 1/24/2010

I have been a member for 3 years, and think this is a great gym. It is very low-key, with a wide range of members, old and young, in-shape and not. The staff is very helpful, despite what other reviewers say. I know people that have been members for over 40 years, and some of that is because of how helpful the staff is. This is a good place to get away from yuppies, jocks, and hipsters too. My only complaint is that sometimes the machines are not fixed fast enough after they break, but they are about to put in all new machines, so there you go.... Pros: User-Friendly Cons: No real complaints more

Nice Facility - Rude People 5/30/2008

The McBurney YMCA is a beautiful gym. There is a huge pool, new machines with televisions, basketball court, weight room, free classes, indoor track and more. The only problem that I have at McBurney is with the people who work there, and some of the patroms. The staff is generally rude and unhelpful, and many of the gym's members are ""bitchy"" bussybodies. I've seen several fights break out in Yoga class. Bottom line... Nice facility, Incompetent Staff, Idiotic Hours 2/3/2008

The facility is nice but the staff is utterly incompetent and quite useless. Additionally the fact that they close at 8 PM on Saturday and Sunday is about as intelligent as their staffing decisions. Pros: Nice facility Cons: Moronic staff that will drive you insane, terrible hours for anyone younger than 70. more

Comfortable place 9/28/2005

The McBurney is clean, and the staff are friendly. The facilities are more than adequate (nice pool and indoor track). Every cardio station has it's own TV with headphone jacks, so you don't hear loud cheesy music pumping when you walk in the door. The clientelle is different from that of other gyms I've been to. It's a community gym - you get young and old alike, and there aren't too many body builders walking around. The membership fee is a bit high, but I feel good that some of the money is going back into community programs. Highly recommended. Pros: Facility, Staff, Clientelle more
