While Massage Envy may seem like a bargain when you consider it's bare bones "Supercuts" atmosphere it really isn't. I'd rather pay an extra 20 bucks or so for a real spa experience with steam, sauns, jacuzzi etc. Thanks but I'll pass. There are so many better places to get a massage than this. Do yourself a favor, pass this place by and give yourself the best treatment you can get. You deserve it. Cons: You owe yourself more more

No Envy in Sight 1/24/2007

This is basically a massage clinic, not a spa of any sort. If you're the type of person who just wants the basic massage w/ no frills, then this is the place for you. The reception/lobby area is nicely lit with an airy feel but once you go straight through the door, it's a long hallway of small rooms from left to right. Inside each room you will find a chair, massage table and an ipod. What lured me into this place last year was the cheap $39 introductory massage session for 1 hour. Who could say no to that? Especially if you are used to paying at least $90 and up at high end spas. So I gave it a try and was extremely pleased. The therapist who I got was professional and used good technique. Mind you, I much rather prefer a spa with all the perks but for the price, it was worth it. So I signed up for a yearly membership which is $59 a month for the first massage, then $39 for any additional in the same month. But of course you have to pay 18% minimum gratuity based on the non-membership fee of $75. I was thinking it will be a great year of monthly massages to de-stress. The following month I come to find out the therapist who was so great and sold me on the membership was no longer working there!!! I was a bit fumed. So I opted for someone else who they "recommended". It was horrible and very amatuer, I felt really jipped. The third time was better but still not as good as the "trial" massage. You never know what you are getting yourself into - sometimes it's good and sometimes it's bad. It's like gambling to me and a big waste of money!!! And as for walk-ins...the 3 times I've tried I was turned down. You need to make an appointment with the therapist of your choice a week in advance or your screwed. Their turnover rate there seems high. I would much rather pay the "spa" price and know that I really get my money's worth. I truly ENVY those who were not jipped into getting a membership here. But if "basic massage" floats your boat, then by all means give it a try. Pros: clean, punctual, parking Cons: lack of GOOD consistent therapisists, hard to get a same day appts or walk-ins more

Massage Envy Glendale, CA 11/16/2006

Massage Envy Glendale is the place if you are truly looking for a "therapeutic massage." It is not a "spa" but a therapeutic massage clinic with a spa like atmosphere. The desk staff there are very experienced and listen to your needs while booking your appointment. They really want to match your needs with the right massage therapist's abilities. You get a "customized massage." The therapists there actually want to see you again soon! Your first 1 hour massage session is $39 or $57 for 1.5 hours. I get a massage once a week early morning(where else can you do that in LA). For $59 per month, I get one "prepaid" massage and every additional massage in that month is $39. However, I am now addicted to 1.5 hour massages for $57. It's the difference between business class and coach. Being part of Massage Envy's Massage Benefits program was the best thing I have done for myself. Massage is now part of my health and wellness routine. In addition, one of the benefits of their program is that I can purchase 1 hour massage session gift certificates for $39 for friends and family which I do on a regular basis. I also receive a 15% discount of all their fabulous retail product which is hard to miss when you enter the lobby. It is lit up from behind and looks like something you would find at a Prada store in Beverly Hills. I understand they have about 30 therapists on staff and I have had massages with at least half of them. The place is spotless! They have very convenient hours and many times can accomodate walk-ins. M-F 8AM - 10PM SAT 8AM - 6PM and SUN 10AM -6 PM. Massage Envy Glendale is centrally located on Brand Blvd near Porto's bakery. I admit to having a latte and a fruit tart after every massage. Massage Envy Glendale validates parking for 2 hours at the Orange St. Parking structure(California & Orange) or sometimes I park behind Porto's bakery and use the meters. Pros: Well trained staff, convenient appointment times and AFFORDABLE! Cons: If you looking for spa services, other than massage, this is not the place. more
