The Ephrata Martin's Country Market is so good, I thought that the Morgantown store would be the same. Boy, was I wrong. I stopped there at about 7:30pm tonight. I was tired and hungry and just wanted to grab something fast. I found some unsliced bread and took the loaves to the bakery to try to have them sliced. I was greeted by a boy who looked to be about 15 years old. I asked him if I could get the bread sliced, but he said he was too young to run the machine and nobody was back there right then. I asked if the bakery was closed, and he said no, somebody should be in the store to help me. He apologized and suggested I go to customer service to see if they could page somebody to help me. I went up and a girl asked if she could help me. She was not rude, but definitely not the friendliest girl I'd ever met. I didn't get her name, but she didn't have any eyebrows! She said the bakery closed at 6pm and there was nobody in the store who could help. I asked to speak to a manager and the only manager working that night was the dairy manager! There was no real store manager working! He told me that the bakery does not slice bread! When I told him he was losing customers - including me - to Walmart since their bakery is open MUCH later and they happily slice bread, he shrugged his shoulders, said, ""Oh well"" and walked away! I had over $50 worth of groceries picked out and I put everything away and went right to Walmart! I told my son that we will NEVER go there again. I'm all for helping the small businesses, but not if they are going to treat me like a second class citizen.
