I have been going to Mario Badescu for years, and I love it there. FANITA is my go to lady, and not only does she give you an amazing facial, but she also really knows everything...

i agree with the comments that this place offers good facials and bad service. my facialist seemed tired, was very quick, and left the room for long stretches of time. still, i ...

Like the products more than the facial 5/19/2006

If the press coverage posted all around the lobby of this spa is anything to go by, this place is a hit with the stars. But for regular folks, you may not get that same level of service. When I booked, I specifically requested a facial where there would not be too much lotion used, as they make me break out. I repeated this at the start of my facial, but she still put too much on, insisting she knew what my skin needed. While I felt very nice and glowy immediately after, sure enough, I had a break out the next day. Aside from that, it was very relaxing and soothing for the soul, maybe not the skin. Add my vote of confidence, however, to the Drying Lotion and the Protective Cream for Swimming, which both work a charm. more

Great products; not so great service 8/6/2005

I really like the skin care products at Mario Badescu. I first read about them in a fashion magazine and about the celebrities who swear by some of the products - Liv Tyler supposedly loves the pink zit-clearing lotion (as do I!). I first bought the products at Bendel's, a cute boutique on 5th (they sell everything except shoes). What I really like are the varied lines they have for each skin type (it almost feels like customized care) and the high quality of the products. The kiwi scrub feels and smells amazing! Also, the prices are very reasonable compared to other skincare lines (very cheap compared to Chanel and a few steps above Clinique). The facials are some of the best in the city but finding the right facialist is trial and error. The girls that work in front tend to be young and snooty but don't let that deter you from experiencing some of the best skin care products. So if you don't want to deal with snooty service, you can always buy the products online or at a store like Bendel's. more

This place is well known to be frequented by celebrities and I can see why. The extraction is great if you get the right facialist who will take the time to do it properly. I suggest you go there a few times to pick the one facialist you are satisfied with and stick with her. the Vitamin C mask is one great step which leaves your skin baby soft the next 2 weeks. After several visits your skin is clearer and brighter. I highly suggest going in the summer time just to clean out the pores after a season of sweating and oil production due to the humidity. The people at the front counter can be a bit snobby and stand-offish but you must remember at all times YOU are the customer. The product line is very reasonably priced and work well together. Also dont forget that the samples are free and you have to have ask for them and if they are being stingy with you just keep asking for more. Try before you buy. more
