It looks like may reviewers really like this place, and many gave it one star. I thought the food was fine, but the service could have been much better. I emailed the restaurant directly about the poor service and never received a response (perhaps the manager doesn't read the email, the email address is no longer in use, or the s/he ignored the message). Pros: Patio Cons: Service more

Lets not be to rash 4/23/2008

Obvious this restaurant is seasonally staffed but that does not mean I would not try it again. The food is above average and the service I recieved was exceptional. Part of the problem when handling criticisms is that there is going to be negative and positive. When I read a negative review I usually check that particular persons other rating for establishments just to see if that review is justified. It would appear to me that cmus does not find anything to really like in any capacity. But getting back to the original point if a customer complaint goes without response, how can you ever hope for improvement. That is where the problem lies ultimately. more

Poor customer service, lack of prompt seating 4/22/2008

I sent the following information to Marina Park Grill, but the manager failed to respond. When we arrived, the hostess was telling guests that the tables inside were reserved for an event, and she was unable to seat anybody outside because of full capacity. Apparently she could not put anybody else on the wait list, but we were able to sit in the bar. We received our drinks relatively quickly, but nobody returned to take our order. We waited 10-15 minutes before I had to tell somebody that we wanted to order food. We waited quite awhile for our food before it finally arrived. The only people who were attentive to our table were the person pouring water and another server. Everybody else completely ignored us. I saw a woman setting the tables in the dining area and asked if she was setting up for an event. She replied no, and it was apparent that no large party was going to show up. When we paid our check the bartender failed to thank us. Restaurants that display good customer service would have done the following: 1) Tell guests up front that the problem is understaffing. This would have been understandable since the weather was so nice. 2) Be more attentive to people sitting at the tables in the bar, not just at the bar 3) Offer a free appetizer, dessert, or a gift certificate to compensate for the lack of service 4) Thank the customers Furthermore, if I knew that I was going to receive such poor service, I would have gladly sat in the dining area rather than next to a wall in the bar. As we left, somebody at the bar thanked us for coming and said that next time the restaurant would have more staff. I can understand when a restaurant is short staffed, but as a courtesy, you should be honest with customers up front. Pros: Ambience, if you are not sitting next to a wall at the bar Cons: Customer service more

Dont waste your time or money 2/7/2008

Don't EVER go on a Sunday for brunch. The waiter was too interested in the game being televised to take care of us. The breakfast was cold, we had to continually ask for water or refills on our coffee.Took forever to get the check, then forever to get the change. When I called later to complain (I didnt want to make a scene in front of the friends we brought)the courteous receptionist suggest I write a letter to management which I did TWICE and never heard back from anyone!! Management just doesn't care if you are satisfied with the service or food, I guess they figure with all the tourists in Kirkland during the summer who needs natives to frequent the place more than once. Save your money.... Pros: Location and View Cons: Service, Value, Quality of Food more

I used to go to the Marina Park Graill when it first opened, but never really enjoyed myself. I simply went for the view and the location. Boy was I surprised when I went back this spring! The lady who greeted us was friendly, the bartender (Chandler) was cute and went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of even though he was quite busy...not to mention he makes the best drinks in town. My mojito was amazing! We decided to have an apitizer at the bar--the cajon prawns--and they were great. Our server was very professional and pleasent. Our steak and salmon were absolutely delicious!!! This is our new favorite resturaunt, and we will be back. Pros: New Management, The Food, Chandler/Staff more

Went in with a group of 7 adults and 3 toddlers, with prior reservation. Took forever for them to arrange the tables, although half the tables were empty. After that it took 15 more minutes before the water was served. When we asked for it w/o ice, it took 15 more min. No wonder the kids got irritated and started making noise. The waiter took his own sweet time to bring the crayons and kids menu. And to add to it, the kids meal was brought at the very last, and that too after being reminded for it. And then he had the gall to add a 18% tip to the overall bill !! To top it all, there were some nasty customers there, who made comments about the leaving the kids at home. Cons: Kid Unfriendly, Service more

Nice Afternoon Meal 9/1/2002

We spent a day geocaching and just stumbled across this restaurant -- had a late lunch, so the place was mostly quiet. The wait staff were very nice. The view is relaxing. My husband says his burger was great. We both munched down on his rosemary fries. I ordered the seafood chili relleno -- it was okay for a northwest restaurant. The chili was pretty tasteless (why does everyone here insist on using mushy poblanos?), the seafood/cheese inside okay. The relleno was pretty, had a nice sauce, but came to me lukewarm. If we're in that area we'll probably try the restaurant again. Pros: nice location more

Too Cool For The Room 8/29/2002

On a beautiful sunny evening, we visited and asked for a table outside. We were told by a chirpy young woman we would have a 15 minute wait. Seated in the bar, we watched as 2 "beautiful" couples waltzed up to the hostess and were promptly seated. We complained and received a table. As we sat unattended for 15 minutes with no menu, no waitstaff, no napkins, forks, no water and watching other folks getting service who had come in behind us, we left. There will be no next time. Absolutely horrible treatment. Cons: Rude staff, Rude Service, Just Rude! more

Pleasantly surprised by how wonderful of an experience that my girlfriends & I had while dining the other night on the patio. Recommend the New Orleans Prawns as an app & definately suggest the Blue Cheese Crusted Filet & Grilled Seafood with Choice of sauce is fun because you can mix & match seafood with different sauces. Incredible wine list & very reasonably price. Can't wait to go back!!! Pros: great patio, friendly staff, wonderful wine list more

Waste of Money 6/23/2002

They have an enticing deck to bring you in... but it's a mistake. The crab and artichoke dip- no flavor or chunks of either to be found- but plenty of mayo and red onion, I still get nauseous thinking of it! In this prime salmon season, they are serving "King Salmon"- fresh from the FARM- this is supposed to be a seafood restaurant! My halibut was fine, but the red potatoes come deep fried and the vegetable was a odd combination that included thick asparagus ends. The service was fine- an especially friendly teenage hostess and an accomidating waitress made this experience bareable. This is a drinks only kind of place. Pros: outdoor deck, fine service Cons: Terrible food, long wait more
