Editorial review from Citysearch 5/14/2013

Good food, good people. This has to be one of the last family-owned places in the Shoreview-Arden Hills area. I am here a couple times a week and always have a good experience. The food is solid and the owners are a blast to talk to. more

Get the Cubano, it is freakin' amazing! more

Great food, great service, great people! 2/20/2012

Marianne's is the best non-chain lunch spot in the Shoreview area without question. The food is fresh and delicious (Philly Melt=Awesome!) and the woman that owns it is a lovely lady who always goes out of her way to take care of the customers. I would definitely recommend that you give Marianne's a try if you're in the area, it will be worth it! more

Solid Choice 11/8/2011

My company used Marianne's for catering a meeting a few weeks back and they did a very nice job. The order was correct and the food was all very fresh and tasty. I will use them in the future when planning for lunch meetings. more

Nice Lunch Spot 11/8/2011

I like to grab lunch a couple times a week at Marianne's. The food is good, nothing fancy, but tasty. The service is quick and friendly and I like that I can get a cup of soup and half sandwich. The soups are very good, they taste homemade. If you're in the area this place is worth checking out. more

Great sandwiches! 11/6/2011

Marianne's is bomb---I live in Arden Hills and was so sick of Subway and Jimmy Johns. The place that was here before (peppachinnos?) was ok, but kinda lame. This place is way better. The bread is super soft and you can actually taste the different meats on the sandwiches, not like subway where it says meat trio and all the meats are identical. My only complaint is that this place has weird hours so sometimes when I'm running late for lunch they are already closed, but otherwise this is definitely my favorite sandwich place in the area! more

What a Gem! 11/6/2011

I work in the area and have driven past this place for the last few months without ever knowing it was there. The other day I saw a sign for it up on the building's board and I looked it up online. Finally stopped in here on Friday and couldn't believe what I've been missing! This place has a whole retail section full of great stuff, I grabbed the strawberry margarita jam ;) Besides the retail they have a nice menu of soups and sandwiches. I tried the special which was a vietnamese banh mi; awesome! I was hesistant to try it since I've had really great authentic banh mi's in st paul but this suburban spot pleasantly surprised me. Service was quick and courteous and I'm pretty sure it's a family-owned place which is even more reason to try it out. I'll be back! more

Awesome place! 10/17/2011

I go to Bethel and this place is just down the road. I went to eat there for the first time a few weeks ago about 7pm. I didn't know they close at 7 and they were starting to close up when I got there. I was bummed because I was starving but I wasn't really feeling another crappy burger from McD's. As I turned to go back to my car the owner came the door and told me to come on in, I hesitated not wanting to keep them late, but she insisted. That night I had one of the best BLTs of my life, it was just really delicious. I hate to see all these nasty reviews on here because I've been back to Marianne's many times and they always been incredibly friendly. Oh and I've seen tons of kids in here so I kinda doubt they're as unfriendly as these negative reviews claim. Anyway, definitely check out Marianne's, the food is really good and so is the service. more

Honestly really good! 10/17/2011

I love this place. It's a great local business owned by a really kind, really sweet family. I was shocked to read those negative reviews, which sound ridiculously out of proportion to reality, and at least three of them appear to be written by the same person. more

Food Poisening After Eating Here. 10/17/2011

I will never stop at this place again. The food was not kept at proper temps I got very sick minutes after eating. (Please not this was not the flu I ate breakfast earlier which my breakfast did not come out). Only way food poisening happens is when food is not stored proper/ or handled right. This is extremely concerning when someone may come in to eat that has a vunerable immune system. I would check else were for yours and your familys well being. more

Wish I could give them 0 stars 10/17/2011

This business is a disgrace. There should just be a sign outside the building that says ""no kids allowed"" because that's obviously how they feel. The restaurant owners have very skewed expectations on families and children should behave. What a shame, this was a gem of a store and based on other people's experiences, I will not return. more

Expensive. 10/17/2011

Food was okay, but definitely not worth the price. After hearing how they treat their customers with families though, we will not be returning. Our family likes to support local businesses that have all around great business tactics. more

Lunch is good 10/17/2011

The standard stuff is all good but I like try the lunch specials. I was there on Thursday and they had a turkey wrap with chutney which was great. There is always some laughter and conversation which makes it fun. more

Love this place! (and so do my kids!!!) 10/16/2011

Never had a bad experience at this place. I've been here many times since they opened both with co-workers on my lunch hour and on Saturday with my children. The owners have been very nice to me, my co-workers and my family each time. The food is really good and they have a bunch of local food, including local honey that has helped my daughter tremendously with her allergies. I have, and will continue, to recommend Marianne's to my family, friends, and co-workers!! more

Great Family Owned Restaurant 10/16/2011

The family that owns and works at this restaurant is super nice and the food is great. I have also had their honey at a farmers market and it was great. If you are looking for somewhere independent in Shoreview to go get lunch, check this place out. more

Nothing but nice 10/16/2011

I've been to Marianne's a number of times, many times with my family. The owners have been nothing but nice, even gave my kids some free cookies the last time we went. I wouldn't hesitate to bring my family again or tell my friends with kids what a good place it is. People should definitely give this place a chance before forming an opinion. Try the soups, they're all homemade and better than anything else I've found in Shoreview. more

Please Be Aware... 10/15/2011

This is not Family Friendly dining, as it falsely states in the description. more

Unbelievably Rude Owners 10/14/2011

If you make it to Marianne's.... be sure to order cleaning supplies with your food as they expect you to scrub your table, vacuum, and sweep when you are done. If you don't, the employees will follow you out to the parking lot and call you ""rude"" and ask that you ""never return again."" I had lunch at this little sandwich shop today and picked up after my family as I do in any restaurant. All that was left were some chips and lettuce on the ground, and some mayo fingerprints on the table from where the toddler had eaten. We love local business and I called to verify that the owner agreed with the stance of her employee. Not only did she agree, but she also dug the hole even deeper by telling me out how out control my children were and several other rude comments. Was there a little bit of mess? Yes, absolutely. But nothing out of the ordinary from a dining experience with toddlers and we cleaned up the bulk of it. The only thing we could have done further was get down on our hands and knees while holding our babies... and I don't know about you... but honestly no where else has expected me to clean up that much after a meal. When running a business, especially in these hard economic times, owners should not go chasing customers out of the store over a few small messes. Unbelievable! I've regrettably spent a large amount of money at this establishment in the last few months, I have never been treated so horribly in my entire life. They really should take a look at their customer service skills and rethink their inks about interacting with customers at all. more

AWFUL AWFUL customer service 10/14/2011

I have never in my life received such awful service in my life. A friend and I brought our 4 children there for lunch today. While there, our children were well behaved and we were nice and considerate to the owners. My daughter spilled her water and we cleaned it up ourselves. We threw away our garbage, put away the highchair and left. One of the co-owners literally CHASED US OUT of the restaurant, YELLING at us that we were ""incredibly rude"" for not cleaning up our mess and told us to ""never come back"". I was beyond astonished. There was some bits of food left on the table and chairs (4 kids will do that shockingly enough) but other then that and a dirty table (as happens when children eat) we cleaned up all of our garbage. Further, when they were called to complain, they continued to be rude and yell at my girlfriend for everything!! No one should go to this if you expect to be treated well. I am astonished at the behavior of these people and expect it won't be long before they go out of business if this is how they treat their customers! more
