I cannot recommend Manhattan Eyeworks enough. We have been going there for years but they rectified an expensive problem, not of their doing, with equanimity and professioanlism. Thanks Frank more

Makes Eyeglass shopping not a chore! 2/4/2011

Recently went to the East Village Manhattan Eyeworks to use up flex spending. (Don?t forget to use it up and that you can use flex for eyewear.) Got an eye exam, picked frames for prescription glasses, contacts, and sunglasses. Flex and insurance covered everything. More importantly the service was sincere and to the point. I hate having too many options, so after narrowing down the frame shape- all that was left was the aesthetics to the frame to seal the deal. Previous experiences at other stores took forever, pushing anything and everything on you, and the staff seemed so unenthusiastic about their jobs that I cringed. Manhattan Eyeworks is simple, quick, proactive, and to the point. And of course- showed passion for helping you look your best. The owner of the store, Frank, was attentive, has and a knack for understanding what suits your face shape, what would look best, suits your lifestyle, and the options available. Frank also gave a discount on everything and a rebate form for my contacts. All was ready in 36 hours. I was given a call to come get my glasses and a few more friendly reminder when I still didn?t pick up my goods for a month. (In my defense- I was waiting for a sunny nice day to hang out in the East Village.) Frank reminded me that wearing the same pair of contacts for a month might damage my cornea. So I picked up my glasses and contacts, got the glasses fitted to not touch my eyelashes, and given another copy of the receipt and rebate form making my life easier and increasing the likelihood of me actually mailing the rebate in. This was my second time at the store. Originally I lived in the neighborhood and now live in Brooklyn. Well worth the trek to get quality service, warm reception, and some much needed humor. Makes eyeglass shopping seem less of a chore!! Contact: Frank- 212-460-9240 169 First Avenue, between 10th and 11th street more

Manhattan Eyeworks is the best optical i have ever been to. 1/16/2008

Great place for designer frames. I have a vision plan and had gone to two other shops that take my plan and this place had, by far, the best collection of designer stuff. I ordered Prada reading glasses and my wife got some Gucci distance glasses. The staff was really easy going (like me) and the service was exceptional. They were ready ahead of schedule and i would recommend this place to everyone with eyes! I also liked Dr. Raush, the eye doctor. He got my prescription right, and i am not that easy. I always went to Cohens in the past, but Never Again. Pros: Great Selection more

my eyeglass store 1/15/2008

i guess most people use these sites to just rag a business when they are unhappy but i have been shopping here for 8yrs and now my children come and my whole family are exremely happy with the service and quality of work. Some people don't know what a neighborhood store is all about and critique a store that has been a staple in the east village for over 13yrs now so i am writing a good review because i am a loyal customer. You only here bad news when people talk and i guess these sites are people . Pros: service, quality eye exams insurance taken Cons: sometimes edgy east village mentality more

Worst place I have ever been to. This ""company"" does not care about its customers. Once you have given them your money they disregard you all together. I DO NOT RECOMMEND EVER GOING TO THIS PLACE FOR CONTACT OR GLASSES OR ANY SORT OF EYECARE. I repeat, DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE if you care about your eye. The customer service is horrible and the owner is unprofessional. It's amazing how the owner of the place is the worst. He has an attitude and no phone manners. Cons: Horrible customer/eye care. Owner does not spend time to explain instructions. Owner is unprofessional and rude. more
