Mandalay Apartments

I was really happy to move into my apartment until i ran into one major issue with bugs. i moved into a apartment that was pretty much roach infested. the fridge wasn't cleaned well because there was a bug inside. i had to set off 2 packs of bug bombs from walmart 4days after moving because they were crawling every where. the 1st day i killed 4 roaches and the 2nd day another 3.... every thing was pretty much fixed when i bought some stuff called boaric acid. The problem was solved about 2 months into the lease. The Exterminator did come about 2 times didnt help... Parking is a Tight so if you have a truck i hope you dont care about dents. The carpet is like a rug from the dollar store. The staff... The management staff care about your issues 75% of the time.. Just keep your rent paid.. Maintenance is really good tho there fast nice and safe looking people. I dont care about them fixing or entering when im not here. more

Must say the review does not help these aptmnts. It's too bad. They look very nice on the outside. I'm looking for aptmnts for someone who lives out of state. Its true you have to gather your own information and hear both sides of the story, but usually the tenants are a good source. more

I am writing to respond to the message placed on this site on 2/8/08. I am the Supervisor of this property and I take great care in providing people the best living experience I can. I am an apartment renter also, so I know the frustrations people feel when things are not done to their satisfaction. I do not deny that this individual had an experience that was not perfect. I only wished I was involved sooner, so I could have helped her with her situation. Instead she opted to write horrible things on the internet. Mandalay is a nice place to live, I have lived there before. I strive to make sure the property is well maintained and that the staff is doing their best jobs possible. This resident and Mandalay had a miscommunication and I am trying my best to resolve the situation for everyone. If you are looking to move to Mandalay, come by a see for your self, ask to speak with me. I am willing to talk to anyone who would like more information about our Property. An informed renter is the best kind of renter. Read your lease, know your rights, know the rules ans regulations of the property, know the right steps to take if you want to give notice and move out. Additionally, when looking at sites such as this and others like it. Take with a grain of salt some of the purely negative and angry responses you see. Talk to the property find out for yourself and then make an educated decision on if the property is the one for you. Don not just read a negative response and believe it is wholly true. I care about Mandalay and welcome any of my residents to talk with me and help me make life at Mandalay better, I always welcome constructive criticism, not descructive criticism. Thank you. more

Hi-- these are the most horrible apartments we have ever lived in, and we have lived in 5 including this one. They are cheap for the square footage that you get and there IS A REASON!! The management is young, not professional, and stupid. MAINTENANCE REQUESTS TAKE DAYS. Then, when they get to your apartment, they are SO not professional and they literally do not speak English. I'm not talking barely any English-- I'm talking NO English. The after hours courtesy officer and maintenance are a joke. They are not maintained to code (smoke alarms especially). I have seen huge rodents on 6 occasions outside and I have only lived here for 5 months. DO NOT LIVE HERE. We will not be renewing our lease. We talked to our neighbors across the hall and they feel the same way. We called to have pest control come, and after a couple of days they came. Too bad it didn't help AT ALL. Horrible apartments. Just horrible. I hope someone actually reads this. I would hate for anyone else to sign a lease here and get stuck in it like we are... I do not feel safe here-- it's right next to the McCallum area which is pretty dangerous. Back to the smoke alarms-- we pulled all of ours out of the ceiling because the apartments wouldn't come fix them. They said that they kept going off ""because it was raining."" Yeah sure. I don't think they are supposed to do that. Then, once we took them down, they were over a year and a half expired. It said replace in 2005. Well it is October 2006 now and that was in June. I wish these people would get in trouble. AND the dumpsters are always overflowing onto the ground. It's totally unsanitary. Pros: Close to UTD, but you still have to turn left on Coit to get to Frankford and that is almost impossible. Cons: Parking is scarce to nonexistent at night so you have to pay $10 a month for a carport space. Everything is bad about these apartments really. more
