Friendly staff, beautiful office and truly caring doctor 6/2/2008

I had the worst pain shooting into my arm for 4 months. I had been to the ER twice and my family doctor wanted to refer me to two other spine specialists, but they would not see me unless I already had an MRI done and they felt that I was the ""right type of patient""...whatever that means. I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Armen Khachatryan in the same week. He asked careful questions about my symptoms, thoroughly examined me, reviewed my X-rays, explained that I probably had a pinched nerve most likely as a result of disc herniation. He then proceeded to prescribe medication to treat my pain and nerve inflammation and ordered an MRI. After getting the MRI, I went back to his office where he once again spent time showing me the actual disc herniation on the MRI and explained the treatment options, emphasizing that surgery is almost always the very last option. I decided to try physical therapy first along with continuing my medications which were only minimally effective. After few weeks of therapy, I returned to the office with continued and increasing arm pain. I was also starting to have some numbness. Dr. Khachatryan, suggested that I try epidural steroid injection. His office arranged for the injection few days later at Mountain Medical (great facility as well). After the shot my pain was completely gone for 5 days, but over the next week started to return and numbness was getting worse. At this time, Dr. Khachatryan explained that surgery was my best option. We set-up a date the following week. Surgery was about 2 hours and I stayed in the hospital overnight. I returned for check-ups at 3 weeks after surgery (pain and numbness was completely gone) and at 3 months fully recovered. It has been about 4 months since surgery and I have had complete resolution of my pain and numbness. I thank the Lord every day for guiding me to Dr. Khachatryan's office. I have already referred 4 patients to him. Pros: Professional staff and doctor who really cares. Cons: Had to drive to the West side all the way from Federal Heights more
