Mabel's Restaurant

We visit at least twice a year and have always loved this restaurant. Mabel's has always been a good reason in itself to visit Traverse City. This year the service and appearance has gone downhill. While taking our grandkids on a resent visit we were disgusted with the amount of flies that were in the eating area. Our grandkids kept trying to "catch' them and the patron on either side of us were continually swatting them away. We had to move our seat away from the kitchen area to get some relief. Not a comforting situation when trying to eat. The management of the restaurant was not very understanding of this situation, although they did say they were working on getting someone to come in and get rid of the flies. They need to do so asap. We will have a hard time going back to our favorite restaurant. more

Mabel's is one of those good old-fashioned family restaurants. You can sit down with the family and enjoy a great meal. They have a huge menu and you can order from any part of it, no matter what time of day. So if you want breakfast for dinner, you can have it. They have a wonderful staff there (be sure to ask for Dorothy if you go!) The other thing about Mabel's is their baked goods. You can't leave without grabbing something from their bakery. They have amazing cinnamon rolls that are the size of your head. You have to buy two because no matter how hard you try not to, you will eat one of them in the car on the way home. more
