Professional counseling, therapy, and other support services for children, families and adults.

Owner Message
  • LSI is a nationally accredited human services agency. We provide services to people of all ages, from infants to elder adults. The services we provide span a wide range, too - from therapy, counseling and intensive crisis intervention with families to residential treatment for children and teens; to community supports for people of refugee status and persons with disabilities. LSI has professional staff throughout Iowa to help families struggling with child behaviors, and programs to support parents before the child is even born!

We've helped families who voice their situation as:

“My child is getting into trouble constantly.”

“My child is aggressive and so angry all the time.”

“My child is out of control.”

“I can't get through to my child.”

We can help your family be safe and stable. Our professionals can visit you in your home and teach your child skills to improve behavior. This can prevent bigger problems down the road, such as involvement with juvenile court or an out-of-home placement.

We help youth with behavioral or mental health issues improve their behavior by building skills. Some LSI sites also can provide these services for adults.

An LSI professional can visit your home and teach skills such as anger management, coping, decision-making, communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution and relationship-building. These services, also known as behavioral health intervention or in-home services could also help a child who has a diagnosis of ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder or reactive attachment disorder.

Some problems are best solved around a kitchen table. We will sit with you in your home, listen, understand and help you find solutions to your family's struggles.

In addition to counseling services, we also have licensed therapists who can provide assessments and/or ongoing services. Many of our therapists specialize in play therapy.

Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday By Appointment

    .

Counseling and Therapy: Licensed therapists provide one-on-one therapy to help adults and children with mental health diagnoses. Therapy is provided at LSI offices. Therapists also provide assessments to determine needs and diagnoses, and can refer individuals to additional services. LSI is also authorized to provide therapy to veterans.

Behavioral Health Counseling: Helps youth with anger, defiance,or other behaviors learn skills such as coping,decision-making,communication,problem-solving,conflict resolution and anger management. Staff meet with youth in the home or in a school setting,if schools are accommodating. Title 19 is required for most cases, but it is recommended families call to explore options.

Supported Community Living Services: For adults and children on Home and Community-Based Services Waivers (HCBS): Intellectual Disabilities Waiver; Children's Mental Health Waiver; Brain Injury Waiver; Habilitation Waiver. LSI professionals are matched with the goals and needs of individuals to provide supported community living services on a 24-hour basis. LSI helps individuals with disabilities to achieve their own goals of independence, using the Positive Behavioral Support (PBS) approach.

LSI provides programs to help families in crisis. Sometimes youth or families do not qualify for traditional services administered under Title 19,but also don't have access to costly services. LSI has free programs that help teens and families create goals and build a plan and services around themselves for success. Each family is unique,so it could be a mix of services such as counseling, family team meetings, advocacy, educational support, access to local resources such as medical assistance or nutritional assistance, etc.
