NEVER AGAIN 8/11/2014

So, I have had 2 horrible experiences with this "great" institution: my kitten was hit by a car, his back femur was broken in half [the only injury he sustained], they wanted $3,000 up front for his surgery and any of the prep work they had already started, we declined and took him to another vet. Just today, we took our dog to the vet, she has an infected and enlarged uterus which needed removed immediately. They sent us to PVSEC, with a loan from Credit Care while confidently telling us the surgery and at least 3 nights of care would be covered. Now, they are harassing me at work with these out of the blue prices, stating it will be another $1200 for her to stay tonight, the new total is now over $4,000. They know we are not financially able to pay this, all we want is for our baby to have her surgery and get another few years of life. They've done the surgery, but now they're telling us there's more tests, more expenses, more money that we do not have, and they are arguing vehemently that we should not take the dog home, but we can't afford the overnight care. The veterinarian is fantastic, but the financial staff are rude, emotionless, greedy con artists. The vet doesn't even know where these new costs are appearing from, but unfortunately, we can't afford to be blindsided by bills and have to take her home. Also, beware of them giving misinformation on the paperwork you sign. The office pushers only care about money, so unless you have it, I highly recommend staying as far away from this facility as possible. They prey on your emotions as well as your wallets. more

The Most Comprehensive Multi-Specialty Referral and Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Western Pennsylvania

Owner Message
  • As the most comprehensive, multi-specialty veterinary center in the Western PA area, PVSEC serves the needs of pets in challenging conditions. The partnership between our specialty practices allows us to offer round-the-clock care to our patients and the expertise of specialists in many fields.

PVSEC provides exceptional veterinary care through board certified veterinary specialists, 24/7 emergency medicine, the region's only on-site high-field MRI for pets, highly qualified, compassionate support staff, strong client relationships, strong relationships with referring veterinarians, open communication and education and an environment that encourages teamwork, supports professional advancement and rewards superior performance.

Most importantly, PVSEC places the patient's quality of life above all else!

In November 2010, we opened the PVSEC Cancer Center. The PVSEC Cancer Center combines all aspects of cancer treatment and diagnostics under one roof. Often, a combination of multiple types of treatments is the most effective way to obtain the best possible outcome.

Diagnostic services include advanced on-site imaging to obtain digital x-rays, ultrasound, and CT and MRI for diagnosing, staging, and planning treatment.
Treatments available include surgery to diagnose and remove tumors; medical oncology to treat residual or metastatic disease with chemotherapy, immunotherapy (such as the melanoma vaccine), or molecular therapy (such as Palladia); and radiation.
