Not at all worth the price you're paying 7/11/2011

Went there on my birthday. I ordered the steak au poivre for $32.95. And I was expecting the best steak I've ever ate for that price. The first bite was gristly and was not very flavorable. They also had very slow service. And our waitress asked a table that came in after us if they wanted dessert before asking us. more

My last visit to Lucianos 5/17/2009

We were a large party and they put 2 bigger parties in the same room with us. The food for 2 tables came out at the same time! The service was horrible, the food not hot and they can't even cook a steak. The baked potato wasn't edible. We had a birthday cake and they cut it up but never gave us utensils. Cons: Lukewarm food, horrible service. more

Not what I expected 10/23/2008

Overpriced, overrated food served by an untrained waitstaff. Each part of the experience was worse than the next. Don't waste your money. Unfortunately you can't judge an establishment by it's looks. It looks really good and ends there. Our waiter opened 90.00 bottle of wine and poured a full glass for the gentleman that ordered it, then continued to pour out the bottle without asking for approval. Pasta over cooked, Veal over cooked and rank. Waited for nearly 45 min. from ordering and were told when inquiring that ""good food takes time"". Wished I'd stayed home. I would have saved 600.00 and had something I expected. more

I LOVE LUCIANO'S! 6/11/2008

I have to say, I would never discount anyone else's personal experience, however, I'm shocked. I find it hard to believe. I've been here twice (only b/c it is on the pricier side, so it's for ""special occasions), and I'm heading back this weekend for my first anniversary. more

Great food and atmosphere 12/27/2007

I have eaten here many times, it is my family's favorite restaurant for any special occassion. As another reviewer said, the food is just as good as any place in the North End. The bread (and I am not a huge bread eater) is spectacular. They have rolls which are outstanding, especially when dipped in their olive oil with garlic. They also have a great focaccia bread with fresh tomatos and garlic. Their salads, apps, and soups are also great, I have had several including the tossed salad, ceasar, shrimp cocktail, stuffed mushrooms, clam chowder, and french onion soup. As far as the main course, again what can I say but great. I usually get the tuna or the sword fish, but have had many other dishes, and all have been great. Pros: Everything - food, atmosphere, service Cons: None - except that it is close to Gillette Stadium, would not go there on game day more

Overrated and Overpriced 8/21/2007

Went to the Frank Sinatra night. One of the other reviewers is correct. They close off a large part of the parking area to make you use the valet service - so I was aggravated before I even walked in. The waitress automatically gets a 20% tip - so she didn't have to worry about being the least bit nice to us. We were a table of 10 so at $50 per person plus drinks so she made a fortune. If I were treated the way she treated us normally she would have been lucky to get 15% from me - and I am an ex-bartender and ususally tip very well. Two of us ordered the steak - one ordered medium the other medium well. They came out rare and medium, but I wasn't going to ask the waitress to bring mine back for fear of aggravating her. Our total bill was over $700. I don't think I'll be visiting Luciano's again. An extremely overpriced night. more

Normally great - but not so hot for Holiday Dinners such as Father's Day and Mother's Day 6/17/2007

We normally have a great meal here but we were very rushed on Mother's Day. We hadn't finished our salads and soups and they were being taken away to be replaced by the meal. On Father's Day we were seated near the kitchen where the kitchen help were screaming at the top of their lungs. The food was extremely dry (overcooked) and the people next to us received the wrong meals. Finally the credit card machines and the registers were down so the waitstaff had to photocopy our credit card to process later and handwrite the bill. There were too few waiters/ waitresses to handle the crowd and when we needed to ask for something the poor waitress had to answer us as she was running to another table. She was unable to stop for even a second to hear what we were saying. Great for a normal night out but don't visit this place on a holiday. Pros: centrally located and generally good food Cons: not a great place to visit during a holiday more

Elegant and Inviting 1/26/2007

This is my all-time favorite restaurant. You are treated like someone special from the moment you walk in the door. The waitstaff are attentive and caring, engaging and interested. They disappear at the right moments and don't hover, but are always available if needed. The food is like eating in a downtown restaurant in the North End...FABULOUS. The caesar salad is wonderful, as are the fish and pasta dishes. My FAVORITE place to spend my anniversary. Definitely a place to dress nicely, wear your jacket and tie, and feel romance and well-being. Candles on the tables, quiet music, sometimes a piano in the background. A hushed atmosphere with waiters dressed in black and white, white linen on the tables, and a nice comfortable lounge area. Mr. Luciano himself often circulates around tables, welcoming friends and strangers to his restaurant he is obviously very proud of. Pros: ALL STATED IN REVIEW Cons: None. more

Rip-off 12/30/2006

They have a huge parking lot, so they close it off and force you to let them valet park your car in the lot that you can see right in front of you. It's ridiculous. I realized the next day the valets stole my daytimer. The food is overpriced. The waiter doesn't write down your order and then he brings out basically whatever he wants to give you. Don't try to correct him or you will get attitude. Overcrowded and cramped. This restaurant is a joke, don't waste your money or your time. more
