Los Portales Mexican Restaurant

We moved to Gettysburg three years ago from Az so it been very difficult finding good Mexican food. We saw the good reviews here so off we went crossing our fingers it was going to be good! Well it was awful,I do have to say the chips and salsa were good and actually had flavor and the Queso fundido was good but everything else was bad. I had cheese enchiladas and a taco and my husband tried a burrito and it tasted like they used Italian sauce on the burrito and what's with white cheese in the Mexican food out here..no no no..very flavorless and bland. Also in the red sauce I could taste cloves?? Whaaattt there isn't any cloves in Mexican food.....I'm sorry to be so negative but if you ever travel to Az or Ca,NM ect....try good Mexican food and you will understand. If you go to Phoenix or Las Vegas at all try Filerberto's or Macayo's ( try El Pollo Espinaca at Macayo's)...... more

I'm local and go there regularly. Been through the menu and it's all good. No losers in there at all. Pros: Delicious Mexican Food / good prices / great service Cons: Salsa has Cilantro (not my favorite herb) more

My family has been to Los Portales a bunch of times it is good. Today we went there I ordered lunch fajitas and we kept asking for more shells and one really cool trick that they do is they put the plates on their arms it is really cool. I would reccamend this resturaunt. It is not far from the airport so you do not have to drive that very far. more

One of our all-time favorite restaurants. Chile Rellenos, Fajitas, Super Burrito (with beans and carnitas inside), California Burrito, Queso Fundito, and Chimichangas are highlights, but everything is fantastic. The space itself is awesome, with booths recessed into coves covered with tile roofs and walls artistically painted with Mexican scenes from top to bottom. You can't miss this place! more

The chips and salsa are WONDERFUL! The food is great, nice atmosphere, and a friendly staff all make this a great place to eat. The prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you receive. I wish there were more parking, they seem to be quit busy! Also, getting your check can sometimes take a bit of time if they are busy. I would recommend visiting during non rush times, as they are very popular. more

This is by far my favorite restaurant in Maryland. Prior to their recent expansion, I avoided this place because of the long lines. But now that the new part is built, there is almost never a wait. The food is awesome, the atmosphere is perfect, and the prices are cheap. If you haven't been, go there tonight. Really...but avoid the jumbo Cadillac margarita...it makes you do silly stuff. haha. more

This Mexican eatery tucked into a strip mall on the way to the airport is extremely popular. Despite the fact that there are no neighborhoods nearby, people flock to this cheerful cantina. The decor is attractive, the service is fast and friendly, and the food is filling and tasty. It's a great place for a casual dinner with friends, and it won't break your budget. more

Since moving to Baltimore, I've missed the authentic Mexican food we could get in North Carolina (yes, in NC!). But, Los Portales is by far the best around. I love the cheese dip! And they serve REAL fajitas... not those knockoffs that are served elsewhere when they just lay the chicken breast on top of some peppers and onions. I love the beans! I love the salsa! I LOVE THIS PLACE. Most importantly, they are affordable! Pros: all of it!! Cons: Not a thing! more

Authentic and delicious! We travel an hour to dine here and it's worth it! Everything on the menu is tasty especially the authentic rice and refried beans! The Chimis are incredible! Pros: Great Service yet quick. Great Atmosphere and the margaritas aren't bad either! Cons: sometimes get crowded. more
