Editorial review from Citysearch 1/21/2015

Do Not take your pets here unless you want extra vet bills and unnecessary treatment.... We are so disappointed the high cost of unwarranted treatment as well as the unnecessary treatment that could have killed my dogs. They were given 200$ worth of unneeded immunizations during their boarding and we were charged for unrequested well-visits that had recently been performed at our actual vet. After meeting with the manager, we were reimbursed for the shots, and were given a discount for bathing . . . plus we got a lot of ""talk"" about how they plan to improve their handling of pets and office procedures. I am not satisfied with how the situation was handled, that my pets went through unnecessary treatment, that they could have been seriously harmed or killed, AND our bill that is still 70$ extra on top of it. There are far too many other facilities in the area to waste your time, money, and risk the well-being of your pets. more

Best Clinic Ever 1/17/2012

I find this interesting that this was posted 2012. Dr. Jackson hasn't been working there since I have gone to the clinic. I started taking my animals there in January 2011. I have seen behind the scenes there as well. The staff is very nice and my animals have been given the best of care. Very clean clinic as well. My dog even made a mess in their lobby and they rushed to clean it. This sounds like a complaint of an ex employee who is very bitter. Don't know how recent they worked there, but since I have started going there, none of this has happened. Awesome clinic. Pros: null Cons: null more

I worked here I KNOW the behind the scenes. 1/7/2012

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Yes Dr. Jackson is a great vet. Seriously she is excellent vet and really cares about the animals. However, that's where the greatness stops. I worked in the back kennels when I say they don't treat animals right I completely mean it. If your dog barks the staff will sprint up to the dog and yell in its face which scares it simply into barking more so they yell more. Also we are supposed to put down fleece on the concrete so the dogs won't have to lay on harsh cement....this rarely gets done. 1) Most of them are dirty all the time because no one keeps up with laundry and 2) Everyone is too lazy too. Even if the dog is 14 years old with bone problems they will probably sleep on the cement. The outdoor area they get to use the restroom in is simply an outrage. It is ALWAYS nasty and smelly of urine and feces. Sometimes the poop doesn't get cleaned up and it is hosed off (for the urine) maybe once a week. I would never bring my dog here ever. For a vet check up, maybe, but even then the clinic staff are nice to your face but they WILL talk about you and leave notes on your account for everyone to laugh at behind the scenes. Be warned about this place. Never, EVER board your dog here. I used to work here I know. I quit because of the conditions and the level of lazy in this place. Do not board your dog here. He will be happy because he sees you and he is ready to leave this place! Pros: null Cons: null more

Awful 4/30/2011

My Dog has been having some skin issues to do flea irritation, and I had been taking him to Ban field pet hospital. Not only does my dog seem to be feeling alot better, I didn't feel like I was having my leg pulled off to get him that way. more

Everything has changed at Longwood...for the worst 1/18/2010

We have been bringing our two dogs to Longwood for 7 years. We have seen so many changes. First, Dr. Jackson left. Then there has been a revolving door of new vets who stay awhile and then leave. Same with the front staff and kennel staff. Boarding is popular and should be discontinued. I have complained in the past to Dr. Jackson when our dog showed fear of a male staffer. Our last visit was the worst. Our female dog was brought to us with a bleeding nose and limping. The only vet they currently employ said that our dog was fine and if she was still limping in 3 days to bring her back. Of course, we heard this from a young staffer, not the vet herself. Please read the other reviews and know that they are from the past and that the present is in need of a second look! more

Longwood Animal Hospital & Pet Resort the only place to take your furbaby! 12/28/2009

I adore this vet clinic. They are always so friendly, professional, and obviously love animals. I've taken my Shih Tzu there since he was a puppy, and its been nearly 2 years now. Even though I live far from them now, I'll be making the drive just to take him to them. more

The Best Vet Clinic 8/13/2009

I recently had an emergency situation, when my dog, Skippy, got a snake bite on his nose. Within an hour he became very lethargic (a Jack Russel), & his muzzle doubled in size. I called Longwood, they said bring him in immediately and "the Vet is at lunch, but they'll call to tell her to hurry back". So I took Skippy in and the vet called me later, went over everything thourougly and also let me know if... his swelling got worse, we would have to put him a facility that had all-night doctors, but luckilly it started to go down, so they were able to keep him for the night with an IV in his leg. Early the next morning, I went for a visit, his face was still swollen, but he was perky and happy to see me. The whole staff was so nice and very sympathectic. I brought his "blankie" from home & left it, but he was in a very nice cage that even had a little piece of fur cloth in it. When the Dr. came in at 8:00 am, she called me & went over the current status. I went back at 4:30pm and the criteria to take him home was to make sure he could eat & drink. Well usually Skippy is so freaked out at Vets, that he never eats, but when the Dr. saw he hadn't eaten all day , she consoled & patted him & within a minute he gobbled his food down. So the IV came out and I took him home, with antibiotics and pain pills. He had soiled his blankie and they even washed it. And the price, while priceless (like the commercial) was very reasonable. more

Extremely caring and competent staff 7/24/2009

We had a Shih Tzu who had every allergy imaginable and Longwood took such good care of our Boo-Man. His allergy to grass, trees, dust, etc. was a lot to manage, but the vets were so good to us and to Boo, right up to the end. Pros: The Superb Care of our Rescues Cons: None Known more

Dr. Jackson might be a great vet but... 6/15/2009

the doctors aren't the ones that take care of the animals on a day to day basis especially on weekends. I feel my pet was not properly cared for when left here in a boarding situation. more

Dr Jackson Saved or dog's life. 8/10/2006

I met Dr. Jackson while she was at an animal hospital in Humble, TX. She is far and away the most caring and professional vet I have ever known (and I have been through a lot of them.) We took my lab-mix Bear to see Dr. Jackson one night in 1998 after he ran into me and looked to have swelling on his head. After discussing his history with Dr. Jackson she thought that perhaps he had Masticatory Myositis. A biopsy later, we found our 2-yr old lab did have it. We began a series of predisone which we eventually weaned him off of once the symptoms disappeared.********** We had been through so much with our poor Bear, multiple visits to vets and emergency hospitals. In the 2 short years prior to meeting Dr Jackson, he was treated for every thing from colds, to flues and every conceivable allergy. Dr. Jackson went beyond the easy 'medicate and send them packing' attitude that is so pervasive in most vets today, she truly saved our beloved Bear.********** Bear is now 10, and as he has moved from regular to senior dog food, the symptoms have returned, and so has the prednisone, which we are told will be part of his diet from here on out. The good news is that bear is happy, something he never truly was as a puppy because of the pain of his condition. He only started going white in the past year, and can still run and play when he is inclined (which was never that much to begin with.) Pros: Dr. Jackson Cons: I moved out of state, and can't take dogs there now. more

Good Place for your Best Friend 9/8/2005

I took my dog here when we were rushed out of town on an emergency trip. My dog is very small and I was scared to leave him but the staff was very comforting. He was very happy when we picked him up I know they took good care of him. I would use them again more
