"I would like to express how impressed I am with Columbia Moving team's professionalism, efficiency and the quality of work. Your foreman, Marlon, and two of your movers named David and Anthony came to my apartment for several hours to help with packing. I had no idea that they would accomplish all that they did on that day. They showed up on time, finished before the allotted time and stayed within estimate. We called Columbia Moving Systems to help us move from Queens to upper-west side in NYC.Anthony was completely up-front and honest about all charges,he walked me through every step of the process to make sure I wasn't going to be blown away with large final bill.They were super quick and 100% on target to estimate.Took extra care with all our fragile and delicate items,carefully wrapping all of our furniture with moving blankets .We were impressed with their helpfulness and professionalism.We will absolutely recommend them to everyone we know.Istvan S. Movers arrived right at 8 am as promised.The guys got right to work and were incredible,they load boxes into the truck literally running between our apartment and the truck back and forth for couple of hours.We were impressed with every stage of the move,super organized.They worked hard and got my move done with no problem.Awesome movers! Anthony came to our home and inventoried every item. Our move took two days because of the packing. The packing crew did a fantastic job of packing our items. On move day, everything went according to plan. They are great and the price was on the mark. Not bad for a two day move. They came recommened to me and I will recommend them at any time. These movers showed up to the job with a contract stating the wrong address, wrong date, wrong start time, and the wrong number of men. We were supposed to have 2 men for 65.00 and got 3 men for 75.00. We contacted the company and he said he would get back to us and never did. Since we could only move out between certain hours we decided to go ahead with the 3 men. Everything went smoothly until they were unloading the truck at the new apartment. 3/4 of the way into the move, the foreman told me it was time to pay even though they weren't done yet. He told me it was 3 hours for the move and an hour for travel time. I explained to him that I was sent an email saying there was no charge for travel time. He put me on the phone with his boss who was nasty and finally said "send me the email" I sent him the email which clearly stated no travel charge. The manager, Michael, then called me back and told me the guy who emailed me (Anthony) lied and there was an hour charge. I told him I wasn't paying it. He then changed his story and said Anthony didn't lie, the charge was for the travel time between apartments. I told him that since it was an hourly rate, we were already paying for that. Michael again changed his story and said since they wrapped my TV they were charging me 20 bucks for that and only a 1/2 hour of travel time. I said fine to the 20 bucks (which was still BS) but no to the travel charge. He said if I didn't pay they were driving off with my flat panel TV. At this point my boyfriend showed up and called Michael back and they got into a screaming match where FINALLY Michael backed down and the charge was taken off and we got our TV. The whole debacle took about 45 min and was horrible filled with a lot of yelling. This was the most stressful move I've ever had. Do not use them if you relish your sanity! Pros: The movers themselves were good. Cons: They tried charging us for things that were clearly stated no charge. Threatened to take our TV. more

Good ratings don't tell the complete story when the business does what they were entrusted/paid to do. The real test of a business comes when the customer's got an issue and how they handle it. And this is where Columbia Moving Systems (and the person I had spoken with - Anthony) failed us miserably. Both my wife and I have brought up the matter with Anthony only to be given various excuses (they became excuses after say, 4-5 times) ... excuses like not having the time, needing to pull up paperwork, receipts, etc. I've called him on at least 10-15 occasions and emailed him, but not once has he returned a call or email. Because of our experience, I would dissuade anyone from using them. If anyone from Columbia Moving is reading this, I would ask Anthony to get in touch with us to discuss the matter (I highly doubt they would, though - but if they do, I'll update this space). To be brief, our experience with Columbia Moving resulted in my wife being distraught and in tears, in addition to ending up paying more than the flat-rate quote given to us by Anthony. We did make a mistake - that of not getting a quote in writing, because we trusted them. Didn't think we might need it later to launch a formal complaint. Anyway, we were unhappy about the mover we had to deal with (a crude Russian guy with an inferiority complex) and the non-cooperation of Columbia Moving when we tried to discuss the matter. Keep in mind that we were extremely nice to both these guys throughout and have only been interested in resolving the matter amicably. We moved from Port Liberte in Jersey City to Manhattan in Sept.2008 and I am certain that I would have found a better company to deal with. We chose them because of Columbia Medical Centre, who we're affiliated with, and their list of companies had Columbia Moving on it. Columbia Moving Systems moved me last week and did a great job! I whole heartedly recommend them and promise this is a legitimate review. The guys arrived an hour early and really made it a stress free event. The company called to confirm a few days before and the guys worked hard and quickly. They wrapped, disassembled, reassembled (without being asked or paid extra) and boxed like pros. I would advise people to ask how much it costs to box things because everytime they box TVs etc. it costs per box. Also, tell them up front if you plan to use a credit card so the guys will know. The actual movers kept trying to get me to pay in cash but, once the dispatcher told them I could use a credit card everything was fine. All in all a great move because the team along with the guys in the office were hard working and professional. Thanks! more

I am in writing to thank COLUMBIA MOVING SYSTEMS for its great service with my move.I was moving into my new apartment.I anticipated this move would be stressful and overwhelming and instead i found this to be the most efficient and stress free experience.The three men (Muradi,Vladimir,Ananda) who did the actual moving took very good care in covering the furniture and packing brakeable items.Not a single item was damaged and there was not scrape on any of my new walls ,doors ,or hardwood floors.I will gladly recommend COLUMBIA MOVING SYSTEMS to others and will use them again more
