great food 4/8/2006

My mom and I come here all the time for some good Chinese food. The quality is good, service is great, and the prices are really good. Most Chinese restaurants in the area are pretty expensive but this one is great for the college student. I usually get their beef chow fun, but they also have tons of other tasty selections. I'm Chinese and I frequent Chinese restaurants a lot, and I can attest to the food's authentiticity. A lot of restaurants like Panda Express has "Americanized" Chinese food, but this is real Chinese food. Definitely try it out! more

Delicious 12/6/2005

I had great experience with this restaurant. It's located near the bart and a block from UC Berkeley. This restaurant is open very late so it's a good place for a night snack or some beers. Their food is also pretty good and it's cheap. I rarely spend more than $5 for lunch and dinner is around $20 for a few. I like their hunan chicken(?) which is fried chicken with a spicy sauce. Or the beef noodle and Pan fried noodles is also delicious. more

Bad Experience 10/31/2005

Little Hunan is located on shattuck, a block away from the berkeley bart station (and a block away from campus). I've eaten here twice, and both times I had experiences. The first time I went, I was just craving some asian food, and saw this while walking down Shattuck. The place didn't look very clean, the service was iffy, the prices were a little steep, and the food was terrible. I can't quite remember what I ordered the first time there, but I do remember their beef & broccoli - it tasted like WATER (disgusting). The second time, I decided to give it another try, giving the restaurant the benefit of the doubt. I ordered some kinda fish (which turned out to be soggy) and some kinda of chicken (which was tremendously dry). I'm trying to think of some Pros for this restaurant, but I'm having a hard time. more

chinese at its best 8/18/2005

Little Hunan serves Chinese food at a cheap price. Most of the time, it is filled up. All lunch specials are under $5 so it's really a treat! Even at that price, the food comes with soup and a side dish of spicy cabbage. My favorite is the crispy chicken. It has a spicy sauce that's really good! more
