2011 F150 transmission leak 8/29/2014

2011 F150 transmission leak. I had a trans leak on my new truck, did some web searching and got 750K hits in less than a second and found info about improperly machined transmission cases, causing leaks, on trucks built the week mine was built! When I dropped off my truck for the leak repair, I told the Service Adviser what I had read about the bad cases, and gave him links to the info as well as copies of related TSP's, etc. Fast forward 18 MONTHS, and 2 more attempts (3 total) to repair the "LEAK" by removing the trans and changing out the SAME parts...yep, LEAKING AGAIN! 4th "Leak" Repair So I ask what will be done differently this time and told, Ford directs all warrantee work and what is done, not Lithia(?) OK, I call FORD, thinking I'd get to talk to whoever is calling the shots on my truck, silly me, just another layer of "customer" service, unable to talk to the actual person directing the repairs to my truck. So on the fourth attempt to fix the "leak", over 18 months, "Ford" decides to change the case!! Oh, and that case...back ordered for 6 weeks! The bad case I told them about, 18 months prior, that was machined oversized and causing the leak. In defense of Lithia, Ford seems to direct warrantee work, and remains isolated from the customer of any discussion about the repair, as I wanted to pay up the difference and get a new transmission, but had no one to talk to about that, after leaving several unanswered voice mails to my assigned Ford customer service rep. So my truck's transmission now has a new case, and all the other (old) parts from my old case, with the bearings installed and transmission assembled by a service tech at Lithia, not assembled at the transmission plant. :-( more

I don't question whether this is the place to go anymore 10/10/2011

I recently went to the dealership for some warranty work and was back in the shop two days later for another issue. It turned out to be an issue with the air filter enclosure not being "snapped" in place properly. The service tech said it could have been them or me because I get my service done there regularly (and it could have been when they were doing a regular check-up). Without argument, speculation or blame, Lithia took care of my problem free of charge and on a drop-in. There is little question who will have my business from here forward. more

Ford tough, Lithia lies 10/19/2010

Just the facts. I bought an "as is" 97 ford f150 from Lithia. Less than 10 miles(documented in their paperwork) from the dealer the transmission or the differential started vibrating. I went straight back to Lithia. I wanted out of the deal or a promise of repair. Their transmission expert insisted I overloaded the truck. I removed half of the load and made two trips. I did not drive the truck again for two weeks. I loaded four 80 lbs bags of concrete. Again, major vibration. Lithia refused to do anything. I made calls to the owner/manager and finally to corporate HQ. They did agree to look at the truck and waive the diagnosis fee. They were quick to say that if they had to open the transmission, which was likely, I would have to pay for all other labor and parts. I understand I bought an "as is" vehicle (after the salesman insisted the technicians thoroughly inspected the truck), but major problems in less than ten miles. I'll never go back to Lithia. more

Beware: "Diagnostic fee" added to repair charge whether needed or not 6/5/2008

The service dept. adds a $94 "diagnostic fee" to any repair charge instead of applying it to the total cost of repair. I brought my Escape in to replace the throttle cable assembly but they added on this ridiculous "diagnostic charge", which doubled my bill. They said I'd be billed this add-on amount for just taking it into their shop. So, I payed for the 1 hour labor ($94), part ($30), sales tax plus their so called "diagnostic fee" (also $94). In other words, it doesn't count towards your bill, its an add-on fee. You will pay this even if they just replace a light bulb! Beware! more

Slow, but great 8/13/2005

I recently had my '02 Mazda Protege 5 serviced at Lithia Body and Paint, and I only have one complaint. My car was delayed three times before I finally got it. Needless to say, I was grouchy for about a week, but I have to say, they did a great job on the car. The hood had a dent as did he bumper, and they fiberglassed the bumper and fully replaced the hood. It looks brand new, and I am thoroughly pleased with all the service after the sale, so if you ever need any body work done, talk to these guys. more
