Litchfield Beach Fish House

I took my two children to eat here tonight and was remembering the wonderful food I used to get at ""The Fish House"" as a child. Well not any more!!! I ordered a $19.99 seafood platter and was sadly dissapointed. My flounder fillet had bones, not just one or two either. I got soggy greasy fried oysters, over done scallops, and soggy fried shrimp. I had ordered a basket of onion rings as an appetizer as this was such a tasty treat that I got every time I went there as a child. Again, the onion rings had no seasoning or taste. I grew up in a restaurant and think it is uncool for customers to have to add seasoning to thier food. This place needs to invest in some House Autrey's seafood breader instead of just flour and cornmeal. Just pure nasty. more

Been comming around for 15 years. Hush Puppies are the best thing about this place. Way too Pricey for the kind of food served here. Service is good, Its just not what you expect for 24$ a plate. more

Took the family to this place tonight. Got in quickly. Drinks and appetizer arrived quickly. We all ordered and since my wife is allergic to seafood, she got a quesadilla. It was as the waitress described it, ""A cheese quesadilla with, peppers, and onions."" We live about four hours away and when you hear 'peppers', unless they're explicitly described as hot, you assume they mean green (bell) peppers. Well, our food arrives promptly, and we were all eating and I looked over at my wife, and she was beet red and said, ""Oh my God!!!"". I asked her what was wrong, and she said it was hot. I thought she meant 'from-the-oven' hot, but she said, ""No, these aren't bell peppers, they are hot peppers like habanero or jalapeno."" I told her to tell the waitress, that there was obviously a misunderstanding. The waitress soon came over and we told her what had happened. She said that she was sorry and should've said that they were jalapeno peppers. She asked if my wife wanted anyhting else and took the food back to the kitchen. Soon after, what I guess is a (female) manager came out and asked if my wife wanted anyhting else, and we said ""No"", that we were fine. She then said, ""Well, our manager won't allow us to remove it from the check since you knew it had peppers."" I was shocked. Yes, there had been an obvious misunderstanding, but I find it ridiculous that we came in and spent $70 on food, and my wife's meal came out like we were in Tijuana, not Pawley's Island, SC.\r \r I've heard good things about the food at this place, but no one ever spoke about the customer service or lack thereof. My food was decent and the kids ate most of their's, but I have a hard time believing we received $70 worth of food (and service).\r \r Unless we get a really bad case of amnesia on our next trip to Pawley's Island, we will absolutely not be returning to the Litchfield Beach House. Pros: Pretty typical (descent) food. Got food and drinks promptly. Cons: Absolutely terrible customer service. more
