Lingo's Market, a real american store 1/2/2010

It is like stepping back in time to your childhood memories of what a real store is, a store with character. They have a brilliant range of newspapers to compliment their fresh coffee, but dont forget good things happen in threes, their freshly baked croissants, baguettes, pastries and muffins to name a few smack of the French influence on the store. The Deli is hosts an array of American classics-cold cuts and sandwich fillers. But, the hand picked selection of imported cheeses on inspection would have you think you were in the South of France, such is their quality and attentive selection. Fresh fish, clams, shrimp (big big shrimp) and a Lobster tank full of the Atlantics finest that can be steamed for you in 15mins. All of this before one mentions the big Lingo's special NY Strips, Fillets, Rib Eye's and T-bones- all freshly cut and the orchard of fresh fruit the store carries. It is heaven for anyone hoping to feed their family locally sourced produce and with an excellent personal touch, Lingo's is really a one in a million place. Always ask for the local peaches-they are divine!! On a visit, be sure to ask Archie Lingo about his day job! He only works as a pilot on the Delaware River!! more

Nice beach store 3/26/2006

Lingo's Market has been in business for over 75 years. It's only one block from the beach and is a frequent stop for our family when staying there. It's a great little place to stop for must have groceries when staying at the beach. Their freshly baked goods are wonderful. We never miss stopping by on a morning walk for a fresh croissant or muffin. more

Nice little store 10/31/2005

Lingos is an established little grocery store one block from the boardwalk. Pricing on groceries is on the high end. Selection of newspapers is amazing. If you are looking for fresh baked goods their selection cannot be beat in Rehoboth. Baked goods are fresh and very reasonably priced. Our for a morning walk pick up your newspaper and pastry and you will be pleasantly surprised. more

Venerable, Convenient Grocery Store 8/16/2005

Lingo's market has already passed its 75th year of operation. That is some milestone and suggests the place has more than met customers' needs for generations. In fact, although the place is minuscule by modern supermarket standards, it harkens back to the age of the neighborhood grocer that knew its customers -- and what they wanted. Lingo's has upscaled its goods to reflect the disposable incomes of many of the beach community's vacationers. That's not even to mention the locals who are sitting in houses that exceed $1m. Don't go to Lingo's for produce, although they can sometimes offer local produce like fresh corn. That is more the exception than the rule. But you will find the essentials and a few other "nice touches" -- such as a fairly extensive selection of daily papers, fresh baked goods (pick the filled croissants over the blueberry muffins), and you can even get a fairly tasty roasted chicken off the spits in the back to put together a nice little evening meal for the family or the gang. Do your major shopping out on Hwy 1 at the Giant, but do stop by and pick up whatever you've forgotten at Lingo's. more
