Phenomenal Catering 9/16/2008

This past weekend, we had the opportunity to attend a wedding reception at the Olde Dutch Restaurant and the only way I can describe the food is phenomenal! Carol, the Banquet Manager, was organized, efficient and personable. I don't know if the chicken, the ham or the mashed potatoes were the best - they were all so good, I can decide! A few days earlier, we took the time to eat at the buffet upstairs and it was good food and good atmosphere. However, for the reception, the atmosphere was fantastic - beautiful wood and glass, nice decorations and a wonderful ""mood"" for a wedding reception. Then, when we filled our plates and went back to the table and started eating, I just didn't want to stop!! I can only suggest if someone is looking for a reception/banquet hall - don't forego the Olde Dutch Restaurant just because it doesn't sound like the place to have a reception. With Carol in charge, you won't get any better!! Pros: Carol-Banquet Manager more

Unfriendly and Expensive 8/17/2007

We live in Lancaster and in years past visited this place quite often. The food was good and prices reasonable.\r A year or two ago we noted the prices rising and the quality falling. The prices point you toward the buffet that (with the exception of the chicken ) is pretty bland and lifeless.\r The end came for us on our LAST visit. We presented an ""Entertainment Book"" discount at the register with our bill and very quickly found that the owner no longer would accept the coupon. The reason we were given was that there were TOO MANY people using them.\r We knew we could probably press the issue and that they are bound by a contract with the Entertainment Book company, however we felt that our best course at this point was to just make sure this was our last LAST visit.\r Of course, not going to this restaurant any longer doesn't prevent us from continuing to tell everyone of this experience and pointing them toward other places in Logan when asked. Pros: Good Fried Chicken Cons: Expensive and Dishonest more

Ugh. 11/26/2005

Ok, we knew we weren't going to have as much restaurant choices in Logan as we do in our home in Columbus. We wondered, however, if this restaurant might be something along the lines of Der Dutchman in Plain City. Wrong! Husband opted for the 'buffet' - basically fried chicken, green beans, green bean casserole, stringy beef, box mash taters, and a small salad bar. This was $11.99! I chose the Rueben platter, and I was amazed how quickly it was brought out! Unfortunately, this showed in the pale uncooked fries. I was also unimpressed with the beef - it was tasteless and quite fatty. I really would not recommend this place to anyone. I wish we'd just grabbed some hamburgers from the Wendy's down the road. more
