Libbys Hair & Tanning

On May 4th 2011 I went in for a new hair style. Was hoping that Tabitha was working but found out that she no longer worked there, so i was ""assigned"" to Shannon Thompson. Mistake #1. I knew that he had previously worked at Crossroads Mall at Master Cuts, and had already known that he had a bad rep and had ""screwed up"" lots of people's hair. But....I needed to get my hair cut really bad that day, as it was my only day off, so I decided to go for it, hoping that he had improved his skills. Mistake#2. First of all, I carried a picture of the exact hairstyle I wanted. He told me that my hair could not be cut like that because it would not do right. I knew that it could, because I have had it that way before. To shorten this story, he totally screwed up my hair to the point that I had to go somewhere else to get it fixed. Oh, and by the way, I went to Billie & Co. and I highly recommend them! Sherry, there, was able to fix my hair and cut it to look exactly how I wanted! Imagine that! I would like to have a refund from Libby, but I know that she is the type person to not do that. I decided to never go there again, and I am telling everyone I know about my bad experience with a very uneducated stylist named Shannon. Not to my surprise, so far, the people I have told have already heard about his incapabilities. Never go there, please visit Billie & Co. here in Beckley! They are super nice and KNOW what they are doing. Plus the rates are very reasonable, unlike Libby's who is very high priced for the low quality work. I was also appauled by the behavior of Libby. She seems to be more of an ""escort"" type rather than a professional hairstylist. more

I moved to WV in Dec of 2009. I came to Libby's for my first hair cut and was very pleased! I came back a few times, and while the receptionist didn't have the greatest customer service, I always came out with a great hairstlye.\r When it came time to tan, I didn't hesitate to go ahead and buy a tanning package without trying the tanning beds first. BIG mistake!! \r I hadn't been to Libby's in probably 6 months. The stylists were all new, kinda shady looking, and the rude receptionist was still there. They have good prices, so I went for it. They took my cash, never had me fill any paperwork out, never rang anything up in the cash register, never even asked for my name, and sent me to a bed!! The bed was dirty, I had to clean it before I got in it, and I didn't want to stand on the bare floor due to the dirt. They were in the process of doing some remodeling.....so I tried to keep an open mind. I even asked the guy before I left if I needed to fill out any paperwork or leave my name so they would know I paid for one month unlimited....he said no!?!?\r I went back the next day, hoping for a better outcome. They sent me to a bed that was occupied, and I walked in on a poor girl!! Thankfully she was dressed and on her way out. When I got done tanning, the rude receptionist informed me that I owed them for the two sessions!! I informed her that the guy had taken my money the day before, but never took my name. She replied ""Oh, you must be the one he told me about."" Then she required that I pay the tax on the cash I paid the day before. So I had to swipe my debit card for a little over a dollar!!\r Since then it has been a lot of rudeness, filth, and very shady looking people. I have continued to tan there for the last few weeks because I paid for a service, but I should have just asked for a refund! As soon as my time is up, I'll be looking for another place to tan.\r While the price of the packages are nice...this is a definite example of ""you get what you pay for!!"" more
