So thankful! 5/8/2012

I am so thankful for the help I received from Dr. Silvers and his staff. My dog injured her back just a few days after I gave birth to my baby. Actually, I didn't know what was wrong with her, just that she was in pain. They were able to give my dog an appointment the same day. Dr. Silvers immediately figured out the problem just by gently touching her, without any of the x-rays and (I think excessive) tests that most practices love to perform. My dog was fully recovered within two days after starting the medication! I could barely move myself, and they were so kind to help carry my dog onto the scale and up the steps. I'm so happy I brought my dog here! more

Cats covered in feces and stained with urine 12/27/2011

We thought we could trust him with our pets, because we used to use him as our vet. Our cats were boarded there and when we retruned, we found them covered in their own feces and soaked with urine. Clearly neither of the cats had been let out of their cages during the entire time they were boarded. The fur was stained with urine and one of the older cats (who had been sick under Dr. Silver's care) was experiencing stiffness in his legs from not being able to move around enough. We will not take our pets here again given the fact that he was able to treat our animals in this fashion. It was sick and very disturbing. Most disturbing of all is the fact that our experience was not an isolated incident. Another review on Yelp shared that her dog experienced the same maltreatment. The staff denied any wrongdoing and expects payment for the boarding. Do not board your pets with this doctor! more

BEST VET IN NYC 11/30/2009

OMG LEX VET IS THE BEST! Who are the crackpots that think having pets is cheap???? I have a 11 yr old french bulldog who has been seen by Dr Silver and Lex Vet most of his medically challenged life. I HAVE NEVER been overcharged. I have always had them charge me what was estimated. In fact I have had them even ""roll in"" additional costs rather than charge me if it went over estimate. They are in the top 10% of all Vets in the USA; they are not cheap but they are SUPERLATIVE in services, technology and more importantly, caring for animals. The previous review shows us an owner who is more concerned with their pocketbook (or changepurse) than their dog being treated properly. And before you say I'm a ""rich person who wouldn't understand"" I'm a struggling small business owner living paycheck to paycheck too. I have had beyond the best care from them again and again with a difficult breed that has tricky problems. I am WEARY of people not learning what things cost prior to having procedures done. If you received a quote from a veterinarian that was cheaper you should have gone there. LexVet is NOT expensive for a Manhattan Vet or ANY decent DVM. I imagine the other reviewer's dog will be back at that pound soon enough when they realize having a dog is a continual expense; how are they going to pay for the heartworm, shots, boosters, flea/tick, food, pet deposit on apt etc. and that's day to day costs, what if it's hit by a car? Do you expect lowered costs because ""i can't afford it"" forever? I'd imagine the blame lie with the other fiscally ignorant owners for not doing their part in: 1) getting an estimate of charges you'd be responsible for prior 2) having enough money to cover your pets needs. don't get an animal if you do not have the resources to cover it. I have been to 6 other vets in the city and I go totally out of my way to haul my dog to 39th street. Dr's at Lex Vet have come in on Sunday for me, driven my dog home themselves, called for followup, TOOK A TICK OFF MY DOG FOR FREE OFTEN. They have let me hold credit when I was hard up and provided relief service/funds for folks who couldnt. None of the above actions read ""scammy"" to me. I couldn't couldn't recommend anyone higher except maybe the New York Dog Spa and Hotel, oh that's right, they own that too and it's EXCELLENT as well. Believe me, you'll be beyond satisfied and your dog will thank you for it!!!! Pros: Superlative care, best technology, kindness and humor Cons: I live downtown and they're at 25th or 39th but who cares?? more

Best Veterinary Group in Manhattan 1/22/2009

Lexington Veterinary Group has the kindest staff in the city! I carefully researched Veterinary Groups throughout all of Manhattan before I brought my precious kitten, Reggie, anywhere. Lexington Veterinary Group had the greatest reviews and after my visit I was so pleased that I chose them! Dr. Silver, Chris and Jamie were all so helpful and took the best care of my kitten when I was there. My most essential focus was to make sure that Reggie was comfortable, and LVG lived up to my standards and more. In addition, when I called a few times with questions, every time the Dr. himself called me back very promptly and was so helpful in regards to my inquiry. All the staff is also terrific about following up with clients to ensure that they are satisfied and take a lot of extra time to give out information that may be helpful to their clients. I promise that you and your pets will not be disappointed with their services and staff! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! more

Happy customer for a happy doggy!!! 10/30/2008

When I got my puppy, I was really clueless about where to take him to the vet. I tried out various clinics and most of the time I felt that they just didn't have the service I need or answered any questions I asked. I highly recommend Lex Vet Group becuase of their service, knowledge, and staff. I took my pup to get neutered there through the Friends of Animals progam and I am glad I was referred there. I really enjoy that they follow up with you about how your pet is doing. Pros: great staff, great service.... Cons: location is far from me more

Good Veterinary Care 10/22/2008

After having had a wonderful vet for thirty years, we were dreading having to find a new doctor for our two cats. We decided to try the Lexington Veterinary Group because we live very close to the 39th Street office. We were happy (and relieved) with the Lexington Veterinary Group. Dr. Silvers is nice and seems to be a very good doctor. His staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We brought one 14 -year- old cat in for dentistry and were surprised at how quickly she bounced back! She was her old feisty self within an hour. We'll be bringing our other cat in soon. Although we haven't had a lot of experience with the Lexington Veterinary Group, we feel very confident we made the right choice and will be back next month!! more

Great Vet 10/22/2008

I've lived with animals all my life and Dr. Silvers and Lexington Veterinary Group have looked after my cats since the day the doors opened in 1989 with a high degree of professional expertise as well as a great ""tableside"" manner. They have seen me through kittenhood; preventive care; chronic illnesses that needed to be monitored and managed and the death of two of my beloved cats. Happily, cats three and four are now 13 and doing well! I find all of the staff very helpful and friendly and the office experience is always pleasant. I wish I could be as satisfied with every doctor I've visited. If I moved, I'd still want Lexington Vet to take care of my animals: it's a great team and I highly recommend the practice.\r more

BEST most caring! 6/4/2008

I have been a client of Lexington Veterinary Group for over 16 years. I find their professional, warm and loving environment a safe haven when I have concerns regarding my dog. Lead by Dr. Spencer Silvers, a calm, kind, skilled and understanding veterinarian, who is simply amazing with his diagnostic skills, I am always certain that my ?babies? are receiving the best care.\r \r Dr. Silvers truly loves animals?which is evident by the fact that has 3 dogs and several cats at home. He had assisted in the well-being of my first yorkie, who lived almost 16 years! He now provides the same great care and follow-through skills with my current 6 year old yorkie, who has been seeing him since she was 8 weeks old.\r \r Having met several clients at his office, I am aware that many travel long distances to receive the services he and his staff provide. I would recommend Lex Vet Group to anyone who wants the best professional care with love and attention to detail.\r Pros: everything. more

GREAT PLACE!! 5/20/2008

I TOOK BOTH MY DOGS THERE FOR THERE FULL EXAMS AND ALSO FOR TRAVEL DOCUMENTS, I MUST SAY THEY TOOK CARE OF EVERYTHING IN THE BEST MANNER, THEY WERE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE , AND NICE. MY PETS FELT VERY COMFY AND SO DID I. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM FOR EVERYTHING. Pros: EASILY COULD GET AN APPOINTMENT!!! Cons: NONE more

New to the area 3/10/2008

I've just moved to the murray hill area and am looking for a good vet and I must say that based on the previous reviews, it does not seem that costs is the problem....it's the way the facility is being ran....with no customer service skills! I sincerely believe that pet owners would not have a problem spending the money if the level of service is extraordinary, not mediocre. Maybe whomever is in charge should take that into consideration. As for me, just reading the reviews was enough to scare me off, I think I will take my pet elsewhere! more

BEST VET IN NYC 2/6/2008

I have been to many animal clinic's and Lex vet Group has shown to be the most reliable and honest. Reading the past reviews I just can't believe everyone seems to be complaning about the money over and over. Then they conclude their comment by saying they will do anything for their pet obviously not. Common sense if you live in Midtown Chelsea, upper eastside, etc... things are going to be pricey. I have encountered pet owners that are wearing a three thousand dollar outfit yet are complaining about a $500.00 bill. What ever happen to doing all for your little guy. Quantity shouldn't matter, QUANTITY should be the only factor. The service is excellent and truthful. This coming from an Anchor woman such as myself who choses not to leave her name. All my friends go there. And money is not an option when it comes to my Foofi. more

AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL!! DO NOT GO HERE.....$500+ for initial shots and exam...lied about price on phone 7/17/2007

The Dr seemed nice but now I realize why....He was ripping me off. I purchased a muffins certificate to save money in getting a cat I rescued from the country fixed and healthy. I phoned all the three doctors accepting the muffins certificate for a quote on additional expenses. All required a pre-neuter exam. The highest quote I was given from the three manhattan doctors was $200. This place qouted me $93 + $53 for exam and shots.. You can imagine my shock when after the visit the receptionist handed me a bill for $550 for the pre-neuter REQUIRED visit....shots and exam!!! What a scam! Oh, He'll knock $87 off though if I bring the cat back for neutering but since the certificate does not cover anything other than the actual operation...there are other fees that would apply and I would ask for a quote but I wouldn't believe them. I DO NOT recommend this place. I'm reporting them. Cons: over priced and bad service more

Best care around 6/5/2007

Growing up in the veterinary business I have seen many things. This veterinary practice is the only one I can sincerely say has the best care. Some might say that the prices are high, but if you want the best quality care for your pet the quantity becomes irrelevant. Those who look for cheap prices receive the cheapest less effective care. (Food for thought) Plus their new technician is reall hot. Pros: Very professional more

Very nice receptionists, so-so experience overall 2/28/2007

The reception here is very friendly and helpful- the doctors are decent but not exceptional and the prices are extremely high for all services. I would recommend The Heart of Chelsea Clinic or Rivergate for those seeking a Manhattan vet. Not a bad place but not worth the bucks. Pros: Clean, nice reception, treated my pets well Cons: Very expensive, nothing to warrant such fees more

My eperience has always been delightful!! 2/19/2006

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. It sounds more like a personal attack than an overall rating..what did you do to her? I have been going to them for many years and would not trust any one else. My schedule does not permit much time but the manager especially always finds a way to help me, she has even hand delivered my cat's antibiotics. She needed her medications ASAP and she made sure that happened, so to say that you had an unfortunate experience is awful but you could never convence me that she is the same person in your review. My ongoing experiences are great! I would HIGHLY RECCOMEND them with out a doubt!! Hours are good and they even have a drop off service. I have always felt like the value of service was fair. You should give them a second chance you won't regret it. Pros: accommodating, very knowledgeable, fairly priced more

User review by genack2 1/14/2006

I did not enjoy my experience at Lexington Vet Group, although the receptionists were very pleasant and helpful and Dr. Silvers was great and very thorough and seemed sincere about the health of my pet, he was way overpriced, the office hours were inconvenient and his office manager was rude and obviously lacked managerial, comminication and customer service skills. Would not recommend. more
