http://www.perrychamber.com/letchworth-park.php There are many websites that show you Letchworth State Park-- None of them do it justice. This state park is glorious all throughout the year! My favorite time is Fall. Think about it- The park runs 17 miles long with 14,350 acres of land. The Seneca River runs through the park with 3 major waterfalls. 1 of the 3 is 107 Feet high. Miles and miles of pure beauty. While looking at the rock formations created by erosion and the Seneca River, or looking at the many different trees- This is by far the most beautiful place in the area. There are so many trails to hike on... Imagine hiking through the hills up to Mary Jemisons statue and buildings.. Its quite the hike but one my family does yearly... Surrounded by the changing red, yellow, orange leaves.. A true sign of beauty. Included in the park are many Seneca Indian artifacts- alot of these are kept in the museum (open from end of May through the end of October 10-5 daily)... There is also a skull of a Mastodon... pretty scary! There is also the hike to Mary Jemisons statue. Included are cabins to look into to see how exactly the Indians lived. This is my favorite part of the park. Growing up my grandparents brought me here throughout the year.. Each grandchild did there leaf collection by picking up leaves on the ground of Letchworth state park. The park holds alot of fond memories to me. If you're in the area- stop in to see this wonderful park... Right now its a beauty--- the leaves are just starting to change color. more

Grand Canyon of the East 8/21/2005

Letchworth is a wonderful state park and is commonly referred to as the grand canyon of the east. The park is made up of the area surroundling letchworth gorge. There are hiking trails along the gorge which exhibit the multiple waterfalls. There are camping areas for overnight stays. There are multiple picnic areas for day trips. There is also an Inn which has rooms that make for an amazing stay. The park has a little something for everyone in its 17 miles of existance. With a rich history, it is a must see for western new york. more
