You either like the place or you don't. I had a great time but that now always the case. more

RUDE RUDE RUDE 8/8/2010

I agree w/the many of the other patrons that this restaurant does NOT believe in service or taking care of their guests. I tried to go there one night with 3 other guests - the place was empty - it was a beautiful night out and they have doors which can open out. We approached a man (who I assume was the owner or manager) and asked if we could get a table for 4. He asked if we had a reservation (we didn't). He said he maybe could seat us when everyone arrives...let me remind you that there were no more than 10 people in the whole bar/restaurant - including the people sitting outside! Then I asked if we could sit by the doors and if they open...his answer yes - they open - but I'm not going to open them. What a DICK...we left and won't ever go back. Note to the owners/management - this is a great way to get your neighbors to never want to try your restaurant. If he's not the owner - you should fire him! more

Terrible Experience 6/19/2010

Worst dining experience I have had in four years of living in New York city. Horrific service from the host and the waitress and mediocre food. Terribly rude and not at all concerned with making the experience enjoyable for their patrons. Not worth anyone's time or money. more

DO NOT GO HERE! 4/26/2010

service sucks! I went for lunch (take-out). They forgot my bread with my soup and asked me to TIP them! seriously its TAKE-OUT! more

Terrific 9/19/2009

Excellent place. We reserved a table for 8 and showed up 30 min late with an extra person. They held our table and accommodated the extra guest. The food was great, and the DJ played music interesting enough for us to pull out the iPhones and Shazam the tunes. more

Nothing Beats Les Enfants 8/29/2009

The sad thing about these reviews is that most of the time people only leave comments for a bad experience or negative feelings. After curiously searching on NY Mag to see what people had to say about my favorite institution in all of New York- I took the effort to create an account just to leave a review and tell everyone who cares to read this that Les Enfants is hands down the most special and fantastic place I have ever been to. The food is great, the staff is so perfectly French and lovely and the atmosphere is unique. It creates that certain je ne sais quoi ;-) that leaves you dying to come back. I bring as many people as I can here and inevitably they all fall in love with this place as much as I do. If your looking for a 5 star dining experience then go to Per Se... although I am sure after wards you will want to stop at Les Enfants for a gin tonic.... more

Yummy food 8/25/2009

The food here is so good! Yes, the bartenders have some attitude but the wait staff are very nice and the food is really different and great! more

No more fun 8/2/2009

We recenlty went to Les Enfants for drinks. We used to go there a lot last year, best is Sudnay late afternoon, before the crowds come. This time the host asked us to move tables because he had some other guests with better revenue prospects. I can't believe this is happening to me, how can I be so bad in judging a place. Anyway, when I complained he almost started a fight with me and said if I don't like it I should leave. I don't understand where they find hosts like that, but please don't go there with kids, it will not be fun. Well, I guess the canal street hood will never take off if places like that still do business. Not recommended Pros: Nice sitting outside Cons: Arrogant Host more

Forget the service 8/1/2009

This used to be a cool frenchy-downtown hangout. Now it's just another mediocre space with wooden chairs and arrogant hosts with French accents. The canal street hood never really took off and les enfants terribles will not help. Forget the food and don't go there for drinks, not worth the trip. The only thing authentic about this place is that they prefer dogs to kids, very much like Paris. more

Bar experience much better... 4/16/2009

I ended up at Les Enfants Terribles on a Thursday night by chance and sat at the bar to have a glass of wine while waiting for my friend. Since it was fairly quiet inside (around 7pm) and the bartender was nice, we ultimately decided to stay there. We just tried an assortment of appetizers, all of which were excellent, and continued drinking wine. I can see how people would be frustrated sitting at a table, as the place was ridiculously crowded around 8:30/9, but if you happen to be in the area earlier on, I'd suggest hanging at the bar for a bit for a nice little after-work drink. more

Making a reservation 4/12/2009

I booked a table for 14, I called twice to confirm, each time I called they did not have the reservation in the book. Luckily we had to cancel the dinner anyway. I just looked to see if anything changed, I see others had the same problem. The staff was flip when I called to check the reservation. more

Surprised how low it is rated 4/1/2009

Went on a rainy Wednesday night, about 8pm. Loved the atmosphere. Surprised by other review, i though the cocktails were strong and good, between 3 of us we had 4 different ones and the manger brought us shots on the house. Cambert app was poofy, very good, veal chop big cooked right, salad a little bland, would have prefered a little more traditional steak tartare a little to oniony for me, banana creme brule amazing. Very laidback, chill, don't go if you get annoyed by waiting for simple things like water or the check. more

Great place to meet up with a group! 2/12/2009

Always a delight and a great place to catch up with friends with the warm and cozy ambience. Great date place - Tends to get a bit crowded but adds to the ambience. I'd go back anytime! more

Neighborhood Gem - Great Food & Service 1/19/2009

I went to this restuarant this past weekend and had a wonderful time. A friend and I spent over 5 hours enjoying a long, leisurely lunch and evening cocktails. The staff was excellent and our waitress gave us wine recommendations. The music was great and we never once felt rushed - even after the restaurant began to fill up with the dinner crowd. Everyone was friendly - some members of the staff answered questions regarding the music, drinks, food, etc. The meal was excellent, and the crowd young and lively. I can't wait to go back again. more

Even to get a reservation 11/6/2008

Les Enfants Terribles lives up to its name 8/24/2008

Though the food is decent and the decor is nice, I was beyond appalled at how we were treated by the staff at this restaurant. We had a 7:30 reservation, and by 9pm they dropped the check without offering us dessert or asking if we were ready for it. We still had 3 full wine glasses and were enjoying ourselves, so we put the check aside for later. Soon after, our waiter came and told us we had to leave because he wanted to turn our table. We paid and left a 20% tip in spite of this rudeness, and moments later another server brought the check back saying we hadn't tipped enough. Unbelievable. When I pointed out that they obviously miscounted our money, there was no apology. Just a shrug and a well then I guess it's enough. Beyond outrageous. I will never go back there again. more

Nasty treatment 5/20/2008

This saturday night me and 4 friends went here for a celebration dinner. Just as a lot of the comments below indicated, the food was good (not great), but we were treated absolutely horribly. We made a reservation, ordered apps, bottles of wine, cocktails and entrees. Five minutes after our entrees were finished, the host (bald, french accent) came over and said we really had to leave the table, he had someone waiting for it. I've been asked to leave tables before, generally after either finishing dessert or declining it, and usually with a sort of sheepish, apologetic tone. Actually, more than once I've been encouraged to step to the bar where the host offered to buy a round of drinks. But I've never been: more

Actually, more than once I've been encouraged to step to the bar where the host offered to buy a round of drinks. But I've never been: A.) asked to leave before even seeing the dessert menu B.) asked to leave 5 minutes after plates were cleared C.) asked to leave w/o any forewarning: it's not like they said 'oh, and btw, we need this table at 10:00.' this came out of the blue. Needless to say, we refused to leave, we ordered dessert, and we stayed another 30 minutes. Our waitress was good, so we didn't penalize her with a bad tip. But we will penalize the management by never going back! BTW, look closely at some of the good comments below--they sure look like shills from staff or friends, not like real citysearch comments. more

Les Attitude Terribles 5/17/2008

I made a reservation for 10 people on Saturday night for my girlfriend's birthday and called at 5 PM that evening to confirm. We show up at 9:55 PM for our 10 PM reservation and no table. The explanation: Look for yourself. There is a big group at your table. What can we do? Sorry. Qu'est ce quoi? more
