Le Bernardin 3/20/2006

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city and one I've visited multiple times. They serve excellent seafood and needless to say the service is impeccable. But expect to drop a few hundred dollars for two and more if you order wine. It is worth the splurge however, especially for special occasions. more

Impeccable Service! 8/30/2005

The service here is incredible before you can even voice your wish for something the waiter is there with it. The restaurant is very formal and great for a business lunch. The food, particularly the seafood was delicious and the presentation was good as well. The restaurant definitely focuses on the quality of its food and service. It is very pricey but worth it to go here particularly for a special occasion. more

Excellent Seafood 8/7/2005

This restaurant is famous for its seafood, and rightfully so. It is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The prices are very high, but the lunch set is decent. They specialize in fish, though other types of seafood is served. They also offered one or two options of meats such as steak and lamb, for those customers who prefer a good piece of meat. The service is attentive and friendly, though the atmosphere is definately very posh. Coat and tie is definately required for men, and if you don't bring your own coat, they can even lend you one. more

  • “Arriving from Paris in 1986, we quietly opened Le Bernardin in New York…” Born in Paris in 1972 by sibling duo Maguy and Gilbert Le Coze, Le Bernardin only served fish: Fresh, simple and prepared with respect. After receiving its first Michelin star in 1976, and two more in 1980, the Le Coze’s set to open Le Bernardin in New York in 1986. After the unexpected passing of Gilbert in 1994, Maguy Le Coze began working closely with Chef Eric Ripert, a disciple and close friend of Gilbert, who took over the kitchen to continue preparing the freshest seafood with the simple philosophy that the fish is the star of the plate. Le Bernardin earned four stars from The New York Times three months after its opening, never having dropped a star throughout five reviews, and is the only restaurant to maintain this rating for that length of time.
