Friendly and appetizing 5/18/2010

I am a local and I love to meet people at this friendly morning and afternoon cafe on Pico Blvd in Santa Monica. They have a wide choice of healthy items, good organic coffee and a nice covered patio. It gets busy so finding parking nearby can be inconvenient especially on Saturdays because the Farmer's Market is across the street. But the waiters and waitresses are really helpful and the food is consistently great. Pros: Good service, fresh food Cons: parking is difficult more

Ok food; overpriced 1/11/2009

I ordered eggs with sausage and toast - which turned out pretty humdrum, nothing to brag about. I got bacon instead of sausage on my plate, and it was over salted. The cup of fresh fuit that came with the meal didn't taste particularly fresh. The breakfast cost me $11 with tax and tip - definitely not worth it! Pros: Cute place, nice patio Cons: Mediocre food, overpriced more

Bad service 6/9/2008

We went here yesterday for breakfast cause we knew we could sit outside with my dog. Well, they never gave her water (despite asking). I never got a refill on my coffee. The food wasn't that great. It took forever to order and forever to come. And the waitress was RUDE. I won't be back. Pros: Can sit outside with dogs Cons: Rude staff more

If you want to wait 20 mins for your food to reach your table... 9/3/2007

Living in the neighborhood I'd love to give a 5 star review for this place but the service is so abysmal that I just can't do it. My wife and I have been going here for 5 yrs or so and in the last 2 yrs it's really gone down hard. The wait staff is lackadaisical at best and the kitchen is so slow it's mind boggling that people wait to be served. Literally it will take 5-8 minutes to give a drink order and 8-10 to place a food order. After that, prepare to wait...and wait... and wait....It took 20 minutes to receive our food the last time we ate there. Save yourself the time and go somewhere on Main St. What a crappy place... Pros: atmosphere Cons: service, price more

Cute with good food, but overpriced with mediocre service 2/5/2007

Lazy Daisy is definitely cute - it has a secluded little patio with umbrellas and mosaic chairs, and is a great place for Sunday brunch, or to grab coffee and a snack with a friend to get away from the Starbucks routine. The selection of unique breakfasts and lunches is great, and the food is pretty good: I recommend the omelettes for breakfast, although the turkey burger was kind of disappointing - thin, greasy, and on a boring bun. Also, my hot chocolate was thin and lukewarm at best. The service is pretty bad, especially considering how small it is - it's difficult to flag down waiters. Lazy Daisy is a cute place to go if you're in Santa Monica, but I would avoid it at peak times (so you can get better service). Also a warning: it's pretty overpriced for what it is. I guess you're paying for the patio. Pros: food, ambience Cons: service, prices more

Horrible customer service. The dishboys were the friendliest of them all. 2/3/2007

I've lived in Santa Monica for over 6 years and have tried almost every breakfast that restaurants in the city had to offer. Amongst all my experiences Lazy Daisy was the absolute worst! My girlfriend and I arrived at 11:00 am on a Saturday when it was moderately busy - it took the hostess/waitress about 10 minutes to even notice we were waiting for a table. We chose a table outside to get away from the crowded patio and ordered some coffee from the busboy who seated us. We still didn't see our waitress. Other couples that were seated after us had already ordered around this time! After about 15 minutes we finally flagged down a waitress to take our order. She was very rude and said our table wasn't even in her section but she would flag down the appropriate waitress. Obviously that never happened. Overall we spent about 25 minutes without ordering ANYTHING but some coffee. BTW, I don't expect Folder's brand coffee for $4.00. Really BAD coffeee. We wanted to pay for the coffee and leave but nobody was around to even give us a check. I left a few dollars and went to a small diner down the street. I am NEVER going back. Pros: Gives busboys the opportunity to work Cons: Everything else - especially the waitresses, overpriced, bad coffee more

Disappointment 11/15/2006

I have been to the Lazy Daisy on Wilshire in Santa Monica and every time found the food terrific and the service very good (and would give it a high rating). Today was my first time at the one in Beverly Hills (also on Wilshire). What a huge disappointment. The service was terrible. I ordered a Turkey club sandwhich. The turkey was a big thick slab of an almost gray-colored turkey breast that was clearly a few days old. It was not only dry but had that gamey taste that turkey gets when it's been sitting around a while. And the bacon was dry, crumbly (almost like baco-bits) and also seemed old. And the service was just plain bad. The server had no personality and never asked us how our food was. This was the complete opposite of the Santa Monica experience (where the food was fresh and tasty). I would never go back to this location and I hope that if I go back to the Santa Monica location it will not disappoint. more

Coral Tree without the Crowd or Expense! 10/27/2006

When you want fresh sandwiches, salads or breakfast entrees come to Lazy Daisy. The service is so friendly and you feel like a regular even though it's your first time. Unlike Coral Tree where the crowd is pretentious Brentwood with the price tag to match. Lazy Daisy serves better food with a cool clientele. Pros: Food and service Cons: Decor more

Best Sandwiches in Santa Monica! 7/5/2006

I have been here a few times, and I can't get myself to order anything other than a sandwich because they are SO GOOD. The bread is incredibly fresh and flavorful, and even the mixed greens the sandwich comes with are great. I haven't experienced their customer service (I order it for pick-up every time I go), but from what I can tell, parking is really tough. Overall, though, this is an awesome lunch place- charming, not too pricey, and most importantly, YUMMY! Pros: Fresh, Tasty, Wide Selection Cons: Parking more

The restaurant that lives up to it's name, and not the daisy part 7/3/2006

I must admit the food is really good. Coffee is great. Atmosphere is wonderful when you are not steaming because the service stinks. I used to be a regular. Last 3 times I went there were all off the scale for poor service. I stopped going then gave it one last chance. Yet again a dissapointing result. Tis a shame as this place has a ton of potential and is dog friendly. Maybe you will have better luck than me. If you do the food is good. Pros: food and dog friendly Cons: Lazy service more

yummy little place 5/13/2005

I love this little quaint find...the apple chicken salad is the best!!! the staff is friendly and the rest of the menu is great!! Pros: apple chicken salad, quaint and cute, good staff more

unexpected charm at 23rd and pico! 7/22/2004

I first started going to Lazy Daisy 2 years ago, just to get the occasional bite to eat, or a latte and yummy muffin. Now, I am addicted. Generous portions, great ambience, delicious food. What more could you ask for? A great place to have lunch with friends, or to drop by and drink coffee and read. Highly, highly recommended! Pros: inexpensive, great menu, great ambience more

This home-style cafe serves hearty breakfasts and lunches in a quaint country atmosphere. Neighborhood patrons leisurely unwind at tile-design tables in the outdoor patio's ivy-trellised shade, while a bakery display and blackboard specials surround a few wood tables inside. Organic coffees accompany the standard dishes of omelettes, salads and sandwiches, though specialties like banana-walnut pancakes and fresh handmade burgers like the rosemary turkey add a unique twist to the menu.
