I've been through two Chapter 7 bankruptcies. The first one I did all the paperwork through an online kit, about $700 total. Don't do that unless your situation is fairly simple and you can't get the money for a lawyer. It turned out to be a huge disaster. The second one, I hired Mark Herder, about $780.00 total. I had friends go through bankruptcies and make huge and costly mistakes, and I then found out about Mark's office from a friend at church. During my research, I learned that most bankruptcy attorneys are like used car salesmen and treat their customers like suckers. Don't be a sucker. Based upon my urgent situation, Mark called me back even before visiting his office, and his office is on the ball. At court, every other lawyer who came to the Trustee meeting had made mistakes in their paperwork and got called out on it. Mark's office has simple pricing and no hidden or extra costs. He does not nickel-and-dime you from a laundry list of "possible" additional charges, such as credit reports or the counseling classes. I received my official discharge last year, am very pleased with the process and am receiving numerous offers to reestablish my credit. more

My wife and I are not real familar with the legal system and we have never been to court. We contacted Mark Herder in the begining of May since I was being garnished by a bill collector that had been going on for almost 1 year.
