I am often asked if I handle cases on a contingency fee basis. The answer is yes. In fact, virtually every case I handle is on a contingency fee basis. The fact of the matter is that very few people can afford to pay the legal fees of a top flight lawyer. Corporations can, and do, and this gives them a huge advantage. It's no accident that the overwhelming majority of individuals who sue corporations without the assistance of a lawyer lose their cases. The contingency fee levels the playing field. This is why business interests have mounted such a concentrated attack against contingency fees. They call this "tort reform." This is hypocrisy at its height. Corporations pay their lawyers up to $800 per hour, but they want to prevent individuals from hiring quality lawyers.
