Missing Papers 10/20/2018

I have been a 20 plus subscriber to the Herald Argus but last spring I cancelled it due to papers always weekly not being delivered due to driver problems. I waited 4 months and renewed the paper expecting them to understand my frustration from the previous cancellation reason. After 2 months the papers are not delivered again 3 weeks in a row due to vehicle breaking down. (same reason each time) You would think that they would have a backup in place to deliver papers and they don't. Now I'm not blaming the carriers because they don't make a lot of money for deliveries, I'm blaming the distribution staff for lack of seeing the customers are getting an expensive sometimes 4 page 1st section! I guess I will start looking into the South Bend paper for the same lack of quality news. more

Beaker 3/18/2008

If my 'title' isn't a dead giveaway ... nothing is. I have to agree with Alisha B. and Lisa P., I must point out that the most recent of those two reviews is from 3/18/2006. Back then, it WAS a great newspaper. Try to find any good reviews since 10/01/2007. Good luck there. I won't add a review because I'll just sound like a bitter ex-employee. When it was owned by the Small Newspaper Group, it was a great paper. Sure it had it flaws but, back then they had the guts to print unfavorable VOP's (Voice of the People) and SpeakOuts. And you didn't have to wait 2-3 days for the news. Show of hands ... how many people have renewed their subscription? Anyone? Not me. more

Afternoon Paper 3/18/2006

We subscribe to the LaPorte Hearald-Argus which is the only paper that reports on LaPorte's local news. The paper is a reasonable price for a 3-month subscribtion, but you can also get it at 6months and 1 year subscriptions. The paper has great local news, but there isn't much of it. You do get great ads and coupons though. It is an afternoon/evening paper, so you can never read the paper in the morning. You have to wait until the evening, but sometimes they have news that has just happened that day in the paper since it is an evening paper and you don't have to wait until the next morning. more

LaPorte's daily newspaper, it is popular with the residents, more so than the Michigan City News Dispatch or the South Bend Tribune. The paper covers all things local and some national of course. Many sports stories and local features fill this hometown paper. With only two sections, the paper is pretty easy to read in about an hour, as it's designed for a small town. It also is delivered in the afternoon, which makes the news a bit more timely than others. more
