I currently ride a cbr250, and was scouting some possible new/used bikes to upgrade to. My boyfriend and i walked in, a younger man greeted us and we explained that we were just kind of browsing some 600s. He very nicely pulled one out of the line for me so I could sit on it. I sit for a second, commented to my boyfriend how it felt pretty comfortable, and my bf asked the young man how much the bike was, just out of curiosity. He explained that it was a brand new cbr600, and was about $12k. So we said cool, and I had him push it back in line. The young man walked away as we were still looking at that bike, and then an older gentleman came up to us. The very first thing he said to us was, "Oh, you don't want that one... its twelve thousand dollars, you should look at the older one over there, its about six thousand".
..Wow. So right off the bat, he judged us on how much money we wanted to spend, maybe based on our age, I don't know. So we obviously looked a little thrown off so he then explains that he suggested that because the insurance is cheaper on the less expensive bike.. obviously trying to save face for assuming our money situation. This is when he actually starts to ask me what I'm looking for/how long I've been riding, etc. I tell him I own a cbr250, I've been riding for a year and I'm looking to get a 600. That's when he starts telling me how I shouldn't go with a 600, I need to be looking for a 500 because, AND I QUOTE, "You're a girl, I always recommend the girls go up to a 500 because the 600 is a lot of power, girls don't ever even really crack it open, guys get some power behind them and take risks, but girls back down when they get scared."
That's when I get furious, but I humor him and ask what's the top speed on a 500, and he says, "75... I mean 75 is the speed limit so that's all you need to worry about."
Wow..so you're refusing to answer my question about the bike now..as if no one you sell a motorcycle to has ever sped before. Ive never been more insulted before. Horrible, sexist dealer.
