Best Place to Eat in Charlotte 6/22/2010

Lang Van is my Favorite restaurant in Charlotte. The place is small, and they are very friendly. The food is phenomenal. I'm Chinese and I feel as though I disappoint my family because when they come to town, I always take them out to get Vietnamese food! Their peanut sauce is the best I've ever had. I recommend the vegetarian dishes mostly because they really know how to cook tofu. I've tried almost every dish in their vegetarian section and I can't think of one I didn't like. If you like Asian cuisine you'll love this place. Pros: Good food, Fast Service, Friendly Staff Cons: It's a little pricey, but So Worth it more

DINNER WAS RUSHED 2/8/2010

We brought some ex-New Yorkers who were craving Vietnamese food to Lang Van last week. As expected the food was very good - fresh and beautifully seasoned with light sauces. Pros: GOOD FOOD Cons: TOO HURRIED more

LANG VAN is our choice for great Vietnamese Cuisine 8/5/2009

LANG VAN is our favorite Asian restaurant in Charlotte. It's been the site of many family outings, birthdays, celebrations, even a New Years Eve or two! We love the food, the variety and the people who run the restaurant. LANG VAN is a bit 'out of the way' for us (we live in South Charlotte) but well worth the drive. But, if you live in the Plaza Midwood area or nearer to Uptown, it's only a few minutes away. Having lived in Washington DC where great restaurants are on every street, we were delighted to find a great, locally owned Vietnamese restaurant like LANG VAN! We highly recommend it to anyone! Pros: Friendly Owners & Staff, Excellent, Fresh Food Cons: Wish it were closer to South Charlotte more

This is where we bring all our out of town company! 3/1/2008

My family discovered Lang Van a few years ago when the restaurant was operated by the original family owners. We were unfamiliar with Vietnamese food and were very happy when the owner's son spent a considerable amount of time explaining the vast menu, and helped us order things he thought we would like. He was right. Everyone ordered something different, and we all had extraordinary meals!! Not only was the food very fresh, cooked in healthy ways, and without thick coatings of sauce, but the prices were very reasonalbe. And the service was amazing! They bring each dish out when it is ready. So everyone may not be served at the same time, but each dish is at it's peak when brought to the table. Within 3 minutes, everyone has their awesome meals! Pros: Food taste, quality, and health benefits, great service, very reasonalby priced. Cons: There may be a short wait. more

Authentic Vietnamese Restaurant Like Chinese but much much better. 11/11/2007

Lang Van is authentic Vietnamese food that is family owned and run. You can get Pho style (Noodle soup) or regular, all I can say is they are both extraordinary. There maybe a Wait for a table but the food and service is woth it. the service is marvelous, They will even make the food to you desired spice level. The servigngs are very generous so if you don't come realy hungry your takeing a box home. The two types of Vietnamese Egg Rolls are out of this world. The first kind come fried like Chinese Egg Rolls but are much tastier and flavorful and the dipping sauce is extraordinary. The second type comes as a plate full of steamed vegitable and frisbee like hard rice paper that you put into hot water to soften the you load with vegi's and wrap. It comes with a Hoisen sauce that is just marvelous. The prices are very sensible. A family of four can easily get out for under $60 not including gratuity. Try it, I promise you won't be sorry. Pros: Food, service, portions, price Cons: a possible wait more

WOW - Its hard to believe this place could get a bad review! 11/2/2007

For the price you just can?t beat the food quality and service. Everyone was pleasant and attentive even when all seats were filled. The food was very fresh and cooked perfectly (especially crisp veggies and large servings). The only complaint was that we left reeking like a greasy restaurant. Perhaps they'll invest their new fortune in better ventilation - but hey, it's worth the dry cleaning bill. ;-) Pros: Great Food quality and selections and beverage selections Cons: bad odor - left smelling like burnt grease more

Wow! I was very impressed 8/16/2007

We visited the restaurant recently on a sunday night based on recommendations from both friends and some vietnamese immigrants my wife works with. Upon arrival we were a little nervous since it looks a little sketchy from the outside. We had a group of 8 though and had driven across town so we went inside. We were pleasantly suprised with a humble, yet pleasant atmosphere. It was suprisingly crowded for a Sunday evening, but they were able to seat us quickly. The waitstaff was extremely friendly and attentive and we soon felt right at home. Pros: food & service Cons: looks sketchy more

New owners same name 7/12/2007

It appears that the original owners did indeed sell out of this restaurant. The children of the owners have opened another restaurant not too far away that sounds good. Check out this review: more

Great food 7/10/2007

These idiots below me just don't know what they're talking about. I have had only pleasant experiences at Lang Van, and the food is a surprising and really unique change from the usual bland Azian Fuzion type fare that Charlotte seems to so often suffer from. The people have been very nice, and I have quite enjoyed the soups especially. more

overrated 5/20/2004

for what too many people call ""the best vietnamese food in charlotte,"" this place is so below average. the food, honestly, is not that great. portions are small, and flavors are bland. i think they may have been good long, long ago, but now have gotten lazy. don't go here for vietnamese food. more

Good Food BUT Terrible Attitude 11/23/2003

We went to Lang Van with high expectation. We heard many good things about it. However, there were six of us and we were terribly disappointed to their service. And after talking to many people we were not alone. I consider myself an easy going person. However, the waitress' attitude got under my skin. She refused rudely to change a $ 3.50 value appetizer because one of us did not order the intended food. Attitude, attitude and attitude! It matters so much. These folks need to realize it! Pros: OK food, Affordable price Cons: Terrible staff, Management Clueless, Terrible Attitude more

best vietnamese in charlotte 6/5/2003

i love this restaurant. i hate that i just started eating there within the last year and a half, considering it was always maybe a 5 minute drive from the house i grew up in. the service is excellent. the food is amazing. more
